Port Orleans French Quarter: Fun for Louisiana folks too

I recently stayed at Port Orleans-French Quarter and had a surprisingly wonderful time. Let me start off by saying that I was initially pretty skeptical about Port Orleans; I am a Louisiana girl, after all. Now? I’m sorry that I waited so long! I’d love to give y’all a quick rundown on the spectacular aspects of this resort. It’s considered a moderate level resort. I paid regular customer rates but was able to get a promotion on the Disney website for 25% off the room, which made it a very affordable option.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the beauty of the resort. The lush landscape, winding paths, and French Colonial style buildings made you feel that you were in the heart of New Orleans. One of my favorite things, however, was the size of the overall resort. With it being so small, everything was a short stroll to get to. After a long day at the Disney parks, the last thing I want is to walk a mile to my room. For this reason alone, I would choose this resort again.

The thing I was most skeptical about was the “Creole” menu. Being from the south (where we have some of the best food in all the country,) I wasn’t convinced it was going to be great.  I am, however, happy to say that one of my favorite snacks came from my resort. Although the line was a little long, the beignets were well worth the wait; I could have been sitting at Café Du Monde, that is how authentic they were. I highly recommend them for breakfast or a snack!

While I do believe that this resort is a great choice for adults, don’t shy away from it if you have little ones. There is a great pool area with a slide to cool down after a long, hot day in the parks. They also have a fun play area with tons of shade for mom and dad to sit and watch the kids play. Overall, this is one of my top picks for great resorts on the Walt Disney World property and I look forward to staying there again real soon!
