So what is important to know before selecting a cruise for your vacation plans? Bargain rates advertised for cruises do NOT include all taxes, fees, tips or travel insurance. Bargain rates are usually for a limited number of cabins, inside cabins, at bottom of ship. Be sure you know what is included in your cruise fare, this varies by cruise line. Most people do NOT have problems with seasickness in the new larger ships with stabilizers. Passports are currently NOT required for cruises originating and ending in a US port. Wishes highly recommends all cruisers have passports and purchase travel insurance.

When to go? – Timing is everything in cruise pricing! The easiest way to describe cruise pricing trends – Most expensive is during holiday’s, followed by Summer, Winter, Late Spring and the least expensive is the Fall.
How long of a cruise? From a 3-night to multiple weeks, it all depends on what you want to experience. For first time cruisers a short cruise works best. For experienced cruisers, longer cruises on new ships is the way to go.
What type of stateroom? Inside is the least expensive with NO natural light; Ocean View has some type of port hole or window; Balcony or Verandah offers a private terrace to sit and enjoy as part of your stateroom; Suites can be very elaborate and large offering more sleeping space and services.
