Extra EXTRA Magic Hour!
By: Nicole Couch
Most people staying on property are familiar with Disney’s “Magic Hours”. It’s an extra hour before the park opens or after the park closes where guests can enjoy the parks with much lower crowds. What most people don’t know is that there is another way to see the parks virtually empty!
On our last trip to Walt Disney World, my daughters had 8:00 am reservations for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We were able to get on the bus before sunrise at 7:15 am (with 3 kids and grandparents!) and we were on our way! We arrived at Magic Kingdom, scanned our tickets, and waited in a short line consisting of about thirty people until 7:45.
At 7:45 Cast Members opened the gates and let us in. I have never had goose bumps like when we saw Main Street EMPTY! We took pictures on a vacant Main Street, in front of an empty castle! It felt like the park was all ours! We walked around for 15 minutes inspecting every nook and cranny on Main Street before checking in for our appointment.
We were done with our appointments by 8:40, which left us just enough time to take those coveted princess pictures, and be FIRST in line to take pictures with the REAL Princesses! That was definitely an added bonus. We were able to hear the rope drop, and then hundreds of people scurried by, many of them rushing to get in line behind us to see the Princesses.
The Princesses spent much more time talking with the kids, and dubbed them the “Prince and Princesses of the Day.”
Now, you may be asking yourself “How can I make that happen for me and my family?!” There are only a few ways to be able to experience these EXTRA magical moments! You have to make a reservation that will take place before the park opens. At Magic Kingdom you are limited to dining at Crystal Palace or Cinderella’s Royal Table for breakfast, and reservations at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Also, make sure it is not a day when there are Morning Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom.
This was a memory that my family and I will never forget. I have pictures that I cherish most from that trip. I would definitely put this at the top of your “Disney Bucket List”, it will positively take your breath away.
