How My Travel Advisor Saved My Family Vacation

Picture this: You’re lying in your Disney resort bed at 2 a.m., exhausted after a long, magical day at EPCOT. You’ve just finalized your Lightning Lane selections for the morning and are about to drift off when suddenly—you hear it.
That sound every parent dreads.
Your child. Throwing up.
In an instant, you’re in full-on Mom Mode. But the thoughts come rushing in:
Will all four of us catch this?
Is she going to get dehydrated?
What about my other child—is she okay?
How do I comfort my Disney-obsessed four-year-old, who is heartbroken to be sick on vacation?
(Pro tip: Gallon-sized zip bags—normally used for packing organization—make excellent emergency sick bags!)
By 5 a.m., I knew this wasn’t just a case of too many Mickey-shaped treats. We were quarantining. For the next two days, we would stay in the room to give my daughter time to recover—and to protect others, just in case it was contagious.
But with five other family members still tied to our Lightning Lanes and dining reservations—and a sick, clingy child—I was overwhelmed.
So I did the one thing I knew would help.
I called Dana.
The Magic of Having a Travel Advisor in Your Corner
Dana is my Wishes Family Travel Advisor. She was my greatest advocate and support system on my very first Disney trip, long before I became a travel advisor myself.
Despite it being early on a Saturday morning, Dana—a fellow mom of two—responded as soon as she saw my message. And just like that, we got to work.
By 10 a.m., our reservations were adjusted, our Hollywood Studios Lightning Lanes were transferred to Monday, and our Sunday morning breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace was canceled without penalty.
I finally felt a sense of calm return.
Even better? Dana shared her own Disney-with-a-sick-kid story, and we were able to laugh about the inevitable chaos that comes with family travel.
A Happy Ending—and a Lasting Reminder
Within 24 hours, my daughter began feeling better.
Fortunately, my sister—a pediatric intensivist—was traveling with us and suspected a mild case of food poisoning rather than something viral. The rest of our party remained completely fine.
But the stress of that one day reminded me of something important:
Having a travel advisor isn’t just about vacation planning. It’s about having someone in your corner when things go wrong.
Why I’m Sharing This With You
When we plan a family vacation, we dream of perfection. We put in months—sometimes years—of preparation to create magical moments.
But life happens.
Kids get sick.
Grandparents twist an ankle.
Dads strain something while lugging suitcases.
Suddenly, plans need to change. And when they do, having a travel advisor makes all the difference. We’re here to adjust plans, offer reassurance, and help you reclaim those special moments—so you can still enjoy your vacation.
That day, Dana didn’t just save our schedule.
She helped us salvage our smiles.
So, Why Book With a Travel Advisor?
Because sometimes… we really do save your vacation.
Adventure is out there. Let’s plan yours.
