A Dream Come True: Interview with a Future Disney Bride!

Becky CriswellMarch 3, 2016imageIn just a few weeks I will be heading to Walt Disney World – my favorite place on earth! This particular trip will be unlike any other I’ve been on before. I have the privilege of attending my dear friend’s fairytale wedding at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! Brittany, the beautiful bride, has been a friend of mine since we were little girls, and we share a love for all things Disney. I knew I could not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.Have you ever been to a wedding in Walt Disney World? I have been fascinated with the process as I’ve watched Brittany in the planning phase. I decided to interview her about this magical experience so I could share her dream with you. (And guess what – her fiancé’s name is Walt. How fitting!) Q: Have you always dreamed of a Disney wedding?A: Yes, I have always dreamed of a fairytale wedding where all of our family and friends could spend the whole weekend together celebrating with us. Disney World is such a special place for Walt and me. We took our first vacation there together and have been hooked ever since. It's still hard to believe our dream wedding is coming true. Q: Can you give a brief summary of your fairytale engagement?A: I was on a Disney vacation with my sisters, mom, niece and nephew. We took the kids to the Halloween party to trick-or-treat (which was amazing, I definitely recommend it). Walt flew down and surprised me! I had no idea he was coming! It was like a dream. He kept me in suspense all day while walking around Magic Kingdom. When we left the park he walked me to the Contemporary Resort and proposed on the balcony overlooking the water. It was a fairytale. Q: I know you went to Walt Disney World in the summer to plan the wedding. What was your favorite part of the planning process?A: The whole experience was amazing! Everyone involved was so professional and efficient. It really took all stress off Walt and me. It's hard to pick my favorite part ... But it's safe to say the cake tasting was the highlight! :) Q: Has it been hard to plan the wedding from a distance?A: Surprisingly, not at all. The wedding planners are so on top of every detail. They give you a timeline that maps out the entire process which is super helpful. When you go for your planning session they cover everything. We left feeling confident in our decisions and not at all overwhelmed. Q: Are you going to honeymoon in Disney?A: Of course! After the wedding we are spending five extra days there so we can have the Disney honeymoon experience. Q: Are most of your guests going to visit the parks while they are there for the wedding?A: Yes! Everyone is very excited about having the full Disney experience. We have a mixture of Disney veterans and some first-timers. Almost everyone is also making dining reservations for their stay. Q: Everyone loves Disney wedding cakes! Can you tell us a little about yours?A: The cake tasting was amazing. It was so hard to pick flavors because we loved every one we tried. We went with an almond cake with amaretto cream for one layer and a lemon cake with blackberry cream for the other. We went with a really simple elegant design: ivory layers with cascading "Cinderella blue" fresh flowers.Q: Where is your ceremony going to take place?A: The Walt Disney World Wedding Pavilion located at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.Q: What are you most looking forward to about the wedding?A: Marrying my best friend in our favorite place on earth and sharing our favorite place with the people we love most.I cannot wait to witness this magical event! Brittany is gorgeous, and I know she will look like a true princess. Don’t worry, I will be taking pictures and sharing in the future. Stay tuned for photos and details!
