A Happily After Dinner
Missy RyanNovember 8, 2016Located inside the Walt Disney World Resort's Grand Floridian Resort you will find the whimsical 1900 Park Fare. The antique carousel décor flows with the Victorian feel you encounter throughout the resort. The attention to detail is awesome when it comes to the theme. When you first arrive and check in for your reservation (you DID make a reservation, right?) If you did not know, Disney Dining reservations can be made 180 days prior to travel at 6AM. Another perk when using a travel agent is that I will set my alarm at 6 am and work on getting the best times and places available so you do not have to worry about it!Now back to your fairytale meal. Once you are called, you and your family are escorted to a mural for a photo. I really loved having this taken. When we went it was around Christmas time so there was a decorated tree by the mural and we all had matching Santa shirts on. It is now a great memory to look back on.As you head to the main dining room, you will notice it is quite large and very spacious. There is a main area with high ceilings in front of the buffet, and smaller dining rooms surrounding it with lower ceilings. Everyone has a preference for one reason or another. Some feel the rooms around the main dining room are a little quieter and not as busy. I however wished we had been in the main dining room. I liked the idea of it being more alive. It was the area the Cinderella and Prince Charming danced and waltzed around the tables. The characters seemed to have more interaction at that time and even called up little princes and little princesses. The main dining room also makes the best use of the carousel theme. There are several large statues of fancy carousels animals which are simple beautiful.Prince Charming escorts Cinderella into the dining room and they make their rounds. I really enjoyed the fact that we were able to interact with Prince Charming since he is not a character you get to see in the parks. Another treat is seeing the villains of the story. We loved having interaction with the step sisters. They were by far the most hilarious part of the evening!! Although they do try and stay in character as the mean and jealous ones, when my 2 year old son started to get upset they both on different occasions hugged him and calmed him down. I truly enjoyed their presence and thought it was a wonderful experience to add them to the mix.As far as the buffet - it is an international flair and representative of several kingdoms from around the globe. There are several different types of salads and soups. One of the most unique was the strawberry soup. If you like cream and strawberries, then this is something you will enjoy. Personally I thought it was odd and was only happy that I finally got to taste the famous “strawberry soup.”Entrees include peel and eat shrimp (always a winner on my list), sushi (another huge plus), Chicken Marsala, stew, filet, pasta (along with create your own pasta), a carving station, several delicious sides and a kids area as well. The kids area has a selection ranging from pizza, baked chicken, macaroni and cheese (my daughter’s favorite) and of course desserts for everyone. From fruit, cookies, brownies, candy and fruit tarts, to ice cream, pudding and cupcakes, everyone is sure to find something to satisfy their sweet tooth.Overall, I enjoyed all of the fun food selections. I was pleased with the interaction and the amount of time spent with guests. I loved the stepsisters and I thought Prince Charming was very charming. I would like to experience a meal in the main dining room in the future as well as maybe even give the strawberry soup another chance.Dining is a magical experience and a fun time for the family to enjoy one another.
