A Land Full of Snacks
Missy RyanOctober 4, 2016Yes, it is true. I am a diehard Walt Disney World fan. There is not much I have to say that is negative about WDW, other than the fact that it is too far from me to visit weekly. I have always been a big of the food and snacks while traveling there. Food and Wine Festival being one of my favorite times to go!Last Fall I was lucky enough to travel across country and get to experience where it all started; Disneyland. After doing some research, I knew my snack list would now become part of my bucket list. The snacks that made it to my list have yet to surface back to WDW. They are mainly unique to the Disneyland Park.Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.Corn Dogs, and I am talking about real corn dogs. Let me first preface that I am not a corn dog fan. I do not search for them as a snack, nor do I ever crave them. I enjoy Casey’s mini corn dogs on Main Street but that is as far as it has gone. However, these corn dogs are hand dipped in amazing cornbread batter. They are fried to a crispy batter and are huge! They are by far one delicious must not pass up treat!I enjoy fun snacks; Snacks with a theme, the cuter, the better for some reason. As you continue your snacking experience at Disneyland, do not pass up the cookie shaped like a snowy mountain! This is what is called a Matterhorn Macaroon. I am hungry just thinking about it. It is one large coconut macaroon made of egg whites and almond flour, then dipped in a generous coating of white chocolate, then sprinkled with confectioner’s sugar…”snow.” Of course you must go and ride the Matterhorn after eating the delightful snack inspired by the historic ride.Another outstanding snack to add to your list while in Disneyland are the Mickey Beignets. The airy dough is not only to die for but also shaped like Mickey!! As we all know, everything shaped like Mickey tastes even better than if there were no shape at all.You can enjoy these classic snacks at both counter service and sit down locations. If choose a sit down and go to Café Orleans they serve them with delicious sauces to dip. Things just get better and better! One may think that caramel popcorn is as simple as its name. Then again, when have you experienced anything simple when the name Disney is involved? The most unique thing about this popcorn is that it is not made with butter. It is popped and then a thin coating of caramel is added; just enough to get your taste buds flowing.Next on the list, peanut butter; As if I need to move on and describe anything after hearing the main ingredient is peanut butter? The peanut butter sandwich is about a half inch thick of peanut butter filling which is piled onto a graham cracker base, and then the entire thing is dipped into chocolate. Can we say heaven in the palm of your hand?Snacking at the parks is a fun adventure. If you are planning to visit Disneyland in the near future I hope you can try some of these wonderful snacks. If you would like more help in planning a magical trip for you and your family, please email me at missyr@wishesfamilytravel.comYou can also follow me on Facebook.I look forward to hearing from you!!
