A Solo Day at Universal

When you combine Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure, you have a fun-filled vacation for the whole family: Dr. Seuss, Minions, Jurassic Park, Transformers, Spiderman, Harry Potter, and so much more! But can you have fun on your own at the Universal theme parks? I’m here to tell you that you absolutely can!
Just imagine a whole day doing whatever you want without other people’s wants and needs to consider. Thirsty? Time to stop for a Butterbeer! Hungry? Oh look- a food stand with delicious Mardi Gras treats! A little warm and tired? Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is about to start! Feeling goofy and want to take some selfies with a dinosaur? You should definitely do that!
My day started waiting for the parks to open. I started at Islands of Adventure and did the “quick walk” to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure to start my solo day at Universal Orlando Resort. (What an amazing ride!) From there the rest of my day was unplanned…and it turned out wonderfully. I rode the rides I wanted to, and skipped over the ones that I didn’t without having to discuss the next ride with other people. It gave me the chance to take in some of the smaller details in some of the “worlds” that I may have been rushed through had I been with other people. Character meet-and-greets turned into selfies with characters, which was so fun! I stopped to watch some of the performers and didn’t feel the need to hurry to the next ride. I could take my time in the gift shops and not feel badly about keeping anyone waiting for me. My time snacking and people-watching really allowed me to really immerse myself in Universal and take it all in.
Were there times that I wished my family was with me? Of course! Did I value the opportunity I had to buy a ticket and spend the whole day just doing whatever I wanted to at amazing theme parks? Absolutely!! If you get the opportunity to do the same, go for it! I highly recommend it!
