A Wonderful Character Experience at Cape May Cafe

By: Becky Criswell7.10.18With so many restaurants to choose from in Walt Disney World, it’s going to take a long time for me to get to all the ones on my list. This is especially true since everyone restaurant I visit seems to become a favorite, making it hard for me to skip it on the next trip in order to try something new! The Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort was no exception.f-26-15-11815849_vOsOHgpM_101_1I had heard from many people that the character breakfast at Cape May Café is a wonderful experience but until this past fall, I hadn’t had the opportunity to experience it. I have been there for dinner (which by the way is an absolutely amazing seafood buffet) but this was my first time for breakfast. We were staying at the Beach Club Resort so once we were awake and ready for the day it was just a short walk down to the lobby for breakfast. My children were occupied by the small seating area and TV playing Disney cartoons while we waited just a few minutes for them to call our name. Our reservation was at 7:50am so the restaurant was still relatively “quiet” and the atmosphere was relaxed. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. We were not seated long before some of the characters were approaching our table so we waited to get our food, which is served buffet style.f-26-14-11815849_2k7lV7eq_069_1The characters we met included Minnie, Donald and Goofy. They were dressed in their beach attire and were absolutely charming and adorable. We never felt rushed as we were allowed plenty of time to interact with them and take photos. We experienced one of the sweetest moments of our vacation here. My son had been afraid of the characters and was hesitant to go near them, but he decided he wanted to hug Minnie. She embraced him and held him in her arms for what seemed like an hour and he was on cloud 9!f-26-13-11815849_U5ykIVSU_065_1The atmosphere was great. The characters were wonderful. Now let’s talk about the food! Anytime Mickey waffles are involved I am a happy camper! My kids were happy to put chocolate and sprinkles on their Mickey waffles. At the front of the restaurant is a standard cereal bar for the pickier eaters, as well as a pastry bar full of delicious muffins, croissants and quick breads. All of your traditional breakfast favorites such as scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon can be found here as well as some more interesting options like Apple Spinach Salad and Chorizo & Four Cheese Scrambled Eggs. Did I mention the Mickey waffles?I highly recommend Cape May Café for both breakfast and dinner. I’ll save dinner for another blog!
