Beaches Negril - The Best Place to Relax!
Rebecca Jones12.13.18When you’re a busy mom, going on vacation can sometimes be just as much as work as staying home. You need to manage schedules, and tickets, and transportation, and the budget, and and and…Well, that is simply not the case when you choose to vacation at a Beaches Resort. There are three Beaches locations – Negril and Ocho Rios in Jamaica, and in Turks & Caicos. Each has their own personality, but my family enjoyed our stay at Beaches Negril.Once we got our luggage and made our way through customs at the airport in Montego Bay, we were escorted to our vehicle, where a driver took us, at no extra charge, to Negril. This was a 90-minute drive along the coast, through several small towns, where we were able to see a lot of local culture. Our driver pointed out a lot of important landmarks, told us about the history of the country, and generally entertained us during our ride.Upon arrival at the resort, we were escorted to the check-in area and given cool towels to wipe our hands and faces with, as well as beverages for the kids and the adults. A short time later, we walked to our Caribbean Beachfront One Bedroom Concierge Suite in the Montpelier section of the resort. We walked into the master bedroom, complete with a king poster bed, full bath with tub/shower combo, flat-screen tv, small sofa, and a fridge stocked with soda, juice, local beer, and wine.In the adjoining living area, there was a sofa that converts to a bed, along with a trundle under it, and a chair that pulled out into another bed, so there was sleeping room for all three of my children in their own beds. They had their own bathroom, tv, and fridge, although it was empty. Both rooms featured French doors that opened onto a balcony with a view of the greens, and beyond, the gorgeous beach.Over the course of our 5-night stay, we enjoyed the pure white sand beach every day. Whether we were swimming in the clearest ocean water I’ve ever seen, playing volleyball, waiting our turn for a paddleboat, or simply relaxing in a lounge chair, my heart was so happy on that beach. The usable water is about 20-30 feet out from the beach, and has floating rings you can sit in or hang on to, and there was plenty of water room for everyone. There was no crowding at all.We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment that Beaches offers. Some nights it was a dance performance put on by the entertainment staff, others it was a fashion show featuring guests from the resort modeling clothes from the gift shop. Each night, though, the Sesame Street characters did a show and interacted with the guests, giving high-fives, hugs, and posing for photos. The water sports are included at Beaches Negril, and we took advantage of those, as well. We used the kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment. We rode the banana boat, which is basically a large blow-up tube shaped like a banana that they pull behind a speed boat. It was very popular! There is also a glass-bottom boat that you can reserve a voyage on. They will take you out closer to the reef, where you can see starfish and other marine animals through the bottom of the boat.My entire family enjoyed our vacation at Beaches Negril. I enjoyed not being responsible for anything for our time there. I didn’t need to cook, clean, or plan any schedules, I was able to completely and truly relax. I’d love to tell you more about my Beaches vacation, or help you schedule your own. Please contact me at Rebecca@wishesfamilytravel.com or (325) 733-8399.
