Disney Best - Narcoosee's at Disney World

Narcoossee’s… Funny name. Fabulous Food.

by Holly Robbins Few people can say that the best meal of their entire lives was at their wedding reception. In fact, I’ve never heard anyone say it… ever. But that’sExterior view from the water launch!exactly how I describe my best meal experience. We had a small ceremony with a few close friends and a sit-down multi-course dinner at one of Disney’s finest dining establishments. And if you’ve never heard of Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World before, I suggest you familiarize yourself… pronto.Exterior of Narcoossees Cleverly designed to perfectly blend with the exterior decor of the beautiful Grand Floridian Resort, the octagon-shaped building overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon is quite possibly one of the best restaurants on Disney property… or Florida… or the country! Perhaps I’m biased, but my mouth starts watering as soon as I cross the Welcome to Walt Disney World sign… every time. The dining room exudes casual elegance.  Blue tablecloths accent the hardwood floors and oversized storm shutters hang from the ceiling. But the real showstopper is the food. Featuring a changing menu making use of the freshest seasonal ingredients. Chef Joe Wilson never disappoints. He’s like the Michelangelo of food. Plus, despite the fact that we only visit once a year, he always remembers us (maybe it has something to do with the fact that my husband always orders the whole Maine lobster AND the filet). I always try something different from the menu each time I visit, and I’ve yet to order anything I didn’t like. On my last visit this past December, I had the Barbeque-Grilled Shrimp and Grits appetizer. One word… yuuuummmmeee!! And I’m extremely picky about my shrimp and grits. As a southern girl born and raised, it’s not something I take lightly. This was, hands down, the bestJust lovely!shrimp/grits combo I’ve ever tasted. For my entree I had my usual… the chicken. I know what you’re thinking… but she said she tries something different every time? Well, since Chef Joe is always updating the menu, the chicken changes every time; and each time it gets more and more delicious. This year’s chicken deliciousness was a pan-roasted chicken breast with roasted baby carrots and parsnips, and a potato pave with corn-truffle cream. OH...MY...GOSH. So delicious!  I know chicken, and this particular plate was unlike any other. Plus, the presentation was so beautiful I almost didn’t want to eat it… for about 2 seconds that is. Even though I try something different each time I visit, my dessert selection always stays the same. It is without a doubt the most slap-your-mama delicious dessert anywhere...EVER. The signature almond-crusted cheesecake finished with Lambert cherry sauce and fresh cream. It’s a masterpiece worthy of its own sonnet. Actually, I think I might start working on one. As if the fantastic food weren’t enough, Narcoossee’s is situated directly on the Seven Seas Lagoon. If you time your reservation just right, you’ll get a fantastic view of the Electrical Water Pageant and the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. plus, to top it all off, the restaurant even pipes theLobster!music to the Wishes fireworks show into the dining area and outside on the wrap-around porch. It’s quite possibly the best way to view the fireworks from anywhere around the Magic Kingdom. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience, don’t wait, don’t think… book a table at Narcoossee’s ASAP. Or, let your Wishes Family Travel agent make the reservation for you! Even if you just want to grab dessert or a drink to view the fireworks, it will be one of the best experiences of your entire vacation. For more information, contact me at HollyR@wishesfamilytravel.com.
