What is Disney Genie+? Glad you asked.
The Disney Genie is an update to the WDW My Disney Experience and Disneyland smart phone apps. It serves as the successor to the old FastPass/FastPass+ system, replacing it entirely with its own unique features.

Gone are the days of planning ahead like we did with FastPass! Many people are pleased that the day of making your FastPass+ reservations 60 or 30 days ahead of time is over. Personally, I loved the old paper FastPass system. I’m old school, and I loved that we were not on our phones all day, and it made our day much more spontaneous.
How Disney Genie Works: A Total “Day Of” System
The Disney Genie Service is divided into 3 levels of service, 1 free and 2 paid.
They are:
Disney Genie (Free)
Disney Genie+ (Paid)
Individual Attraction Lightning Lane Selections (Paid)
For now, we’re just going to focus on the basic, unpaid Disney Genie feature. I’ll be back soon with a separate blog on the paid features – don't you worry!

The basic, free level Disney Genie will help you through your theme park day. Simply set up what you are interested in doing by clicking on rides and attractions; or, if you’re not sure, just general interests like Star Wars or Princesses. As you then tour the park, Disney Genie will let you know what times are best to experience certain rides so you can avoid long waits.
Here are a few more features:
Get Itinerary Updates from Morning to Night: Disney Genie will continue to update your itinerary throughout your day as wait times change on rides.
You can create your very own personal tip board to instantly see your favorites. It will display current AND forecasted future wait times, helping you predict when you might experience quicker entry to attractions.
Disney Genie brings existing planning features together in one place. You can join a virtual queue at certain attractions, make dining and experience reservations, mobile order food at many locations, get help from a virtual assistant and more.

So, like most things in life, Disney Genie has its pros and cons. The first pro? It’s FREE! That’s a good thing, right? I also really like how you can put in your favorites and have a personal tip board, but I don’t like being on my phone all day.
