Disney’s Pop Century Resort: Have a Groovy Good Time!

November 12, 2015Becky CriswellWith so many Disney resorts to choose from, it can be hard to decide on the right place for your family. Every resort is unique and special for different reasons. Today I would like to focus on one of Disney’s Value Resorts.  I’ve never had a bad experience at any of the Walt Disney World Resorts, and sometimes staying at a value resort is a good way to save money, without sacrificing the magic of Disney. By staying at a value resort on our last family vacation, we were able to stay for 10 days which we would not have been able to do at one of the moderate or deluxe resorts.roger_rabbittDisney’s Pop Century Resort is a fun place for the whole family. Adults love the history, kids love the bright colors and icons, and who could resist the amazing “Hippy Dippy Pool”? Let’s highlight some of the best features of the Pop Century Resort:The Theme and Decor My last visit to Walt Disney World was with my husband, one-year old son  and my parents. My son could not take his eyes off the gigantic Pop icons such as the life-size foosball field, the 3-story Roger Rabbit, or the enormous rubix cubes, just to name a few.  As you enter the lobby, the long hallway is lined with shadow boxes featuring memories from each decade. My dad loved taking a look at these and reminiscing about the past. It’s truly a stroll down memory lane! The RoomsPop Century rooms are bright, upbeat and comfortably accommodate small families, or larger families in two connecting rooms. One thing to note is that Pop Century does not have family suites like some of the other value resorts offer. However, on our vacation we were able to have a standard room with a connecting door to my parent’s room. This is a great option if you are traveling with large or extended families. Rooms include 2 double or 1 king size bed.DKsiKd_roomsThe PoolsThe main pool is known as the “Hippy-Dippy Pool” and it is shaped like a giant flower. It is located right next to a water play area for small children. If adults would like to grab a beer or strawberry margarita, they can do so at Petals Pool Bar, also located next to the Hippy Dippy Pool. The resort also features the bowling pool, located outside the 1950’s rooms, and the computer pool, located outside the 1990’s room.popcenturypoolDiningThe Everything POP food court features 7 stations and offers a variety of food options. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are open from 6am-12am. The food court can get rather crowded, so I recommend going at non-peak hours if possible. For lunch and dinner, you can find the typical offerings of hot dogs, burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, salads, etc. They also have nightly specials and many of their items are made-to-order. For breakfast, you can find eggs, pancakes, waffles, yogurt parfaits, breakfast sandwiches, and the unique “Pop-Tart Breakfast Sandwich.”  There is also a grab-and-go market located in the food court with staple items such as milk, bread, yogurt, pastries, bagels, etc.The food court is known for a few signature items, such as the POP waffles, and the famous tie-dyed cheesecake. I had the experience of trying both items on our last trip and I can tell you they were delicious! If nothing at the Everything POP food court excites you, it is not a far walk to the food court at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, which offers a different variety.QSPop_1EntertainmentWhile staying at Pop Century, you can enjoy the large arcade, playgrounds, a one-mile jogging trail around the lake, and movies by the pool in the evenings. The resort also offers a variety of activities for the family such as poolside games, trivia, water games, pool parties, dance parties, and more!I highly recommend Disney’s Pop Century Resort for a fun, affordable, family vacation. If you’d like to hear more about this resort, or any of the other Walt Disney World Resorts, please contact me and I will be happy to help you find the perfect fit for your family!
