Enjoying the Great Outdoors at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Walt Disney World’s Wilderness Lodge is a wonderful deluxe resort inspired by National Park lodges. It was my first time to stay there, and I fell in love. It is my new favorite resort. I am a little spoiled now that I have stayed in a deluxe, and I think it will be hard to stay anywhere else going forward.  Disney truly knows how to make you feel at home.

First of all, the overall atmosphere is rustic and cozy. The dark wood and plant life everywhere makes it seem like you are camping and not staying at a luxurious hotel in the middle of a theme park. There are 2 great pools to swim in that are heated. Our room overlooked the Boulder Ridge Cove pool. It has a waterfall at one end that makes it very relaxing after a long day at the parks, or a great place to cool off in the Florida heat. The lobby is absolutely breathtaking. The tall ceilings with rich wood beams and the roaring fireplace with a bearskin rug in front gives it such a homey feeling.

There are some great food options as well. The Whispering Canyon Café has long been a family favorite of ours. The breakfast is family style with everything you could possibly want. Lunch and dinner are all-you-can-eat barbecue. Reservations are required, so don’t miss out on this gem. A good quick service option is Roaring Fork. They have several options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The newest restaurant is Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White.  If your kids are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fan, this is a great place to go. Character dining is so much fun.

The rooms were just as wonderful as the rest of the resort. They are spacious and there are many types to choose from. We stayed in pool view room with 2 queen beds and a balcony. We enjoyed coffee outside each morning. The double sinks in the bathroom were a time saver as well. From the comfortable beds, to the roomy shower, it was so much more than just another hotel room. We also had a couple of options for transportation. We rode a boat to Magic Kingdom which was a fun change from the regular buses. There were buses to Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom that ran every few minutes throughout the day. It was all very convenient. Staying on Disney property is definitely the smartest decision when planning your trip. Each resort makes the guest a priority, and you will not be disappointed with Wilderness Lodge!
