Epcot Flower & Garden Festival: Butterfly Garden

Butterflies. Who doesn’t love butterflies!? Whether it be an oversized colorful topiary, or watching Winnie the Pooh dancing across a lawn with his net, trying so hard to catch one, butterflies certainly abound in Epcot! During the Flower and Garden Festival, a special springtime event, a must-do complimentary activity for my family is to visit the butterfly garden. In 2021, the garden was located between Journey Into Imagination with Figment and the Living with the Land Pavilion.

The garden is pretty amazing yet peaceful and serene at the same time. While there may be a line to gain entry due to the limited space, it’s well worth a wait. Upon entering the garden area, you’ll immediately notice colorful blooms specifically placed to attract a myriad of butterflies. In addition, there are several educational stations to learn about their growth cycle, different species and other facts.

The very best part of this attraction, however, is the hundreds of colorful butterflies circling by. It’s easy to just stand still for several minutes just watching them. It’s a rainbow of green, yellow, orange and white all mixed in with brightly-colored and sweet-smelling flowers. It’s quite a sight! When a butterfly lands on a flower right in front of you, the ability to see up-close their paper-thin wings and intricate patterns is unlike anything else. The simple beauty of these creatures is breathtaking.

If you’re thinking about a springtime trip to Walt Disney World, make sure to plan a day at Epcot! In addition to the many booths of tasty Flower and Garden food and drinks, the butterfly garden is another place to add to your list. I’d love to help plan your trip and can be reached at Leslie@wishesfamilytravel.com
