Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival

By: Shaina BrainardMay 17, 2018Blooms and butterflies are soon to be encountered again at Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. This beautiful event is certainly one worth seeing while visiting Walt Disney World during the spring. I had the privilege of experiencing this festival last year and cannot wait to return in the future. From stepping foot into the park, and all around World Showcase, intricate topiaries are on display, featuring some of Disney’s most beloved characters. Seemingly at every turn is a fun surprise, exciting both children and adults alike.Amazing gardens are scattered throughout the park including an English tea garden, an urban spice garden, and a display of Japanese mini gardens. My favorite is the butterfly garden located inside a large white tent in Innovations West. When you enter the tent, you walk through the garden that is home to hundreds of colorful butterflies. It is beautiful, and not to be missed. The gardens provide serenity in an otherwise busy park. And for an additional fee, guided tours are available.Throughout the park are outdoor kitchens serving up delicious drinks and snacks. I tried the hibiscus margarita from Jardin de Fiestas in Mexico and the potato pancake from Bauernmarket in Germany. Both treats are fresh and delicious. I could certainly make a day of trying the many snack offerings and beverages from around World Showcase.My trip was an adult-only getaway, but after experiencing it I am excited to take my children to this festival because of the attractions that are designed for them. Uniquely themed interactive playgrounds are set up for little ones to explore and burn some energy while adults can relax and enjoy snacks. My kids will love the musical garden full of chimes and musical instruments for them to play.We weren’t able to experience this on our trip, but the festival is host to the Garden Rocks Concert Series. These concerts are available only on the weekend, and have some well-known artists in the line-up. Amazing, I am sure.I truly enjoyed our time at Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival and am currently planning our next vacation around returning for this event.
