Five benefits of Bay Lake Tower

Walt Disney World Resort has a variety of resort options, from those with over-the-top theming with Disney characters to more chic, luxurious accommodations. I like to stay at a different resort each trip, and absolutely love villa accommodations so that we have a home-like space to return to from the parks. I usually choose my accommodations around the goals for each trip.
So when I planned a trip that would focus on maximizing our time at Magic Kingdom, and particularly for nighttime activities, I was delighted to find a one bedroom villa available at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Bay Lake Tower is a Disney Vacation Club property, with 1- and 2-bedroom villas with all the comforts of home. We selected a 1-bedroom villa, which had a master bedroom with king bed and full bathroom, living room with sleeper sofa and sleeper chair, full kitchen, washer and dryer, and a second full bathroom off the entryway. Because we had the full kitchen, we planned a few meals we could cook during our stay!
There are 5 incredible benefits of a stay at Bay Lake Tower:
Location: You’re literally steps from the Magic Kingdom. After one of our late nights at the park, we opted to walk back to the resort. Depending on how quickly you walk, this will take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. You’re also just a short stop from the Magic Kingdom via Disney Monorail, which can also whisk you magically to Epcot or to another Magic Kingdom-area resort. Which brings me to the second benefit….
Transportation: As I mentioned earlier, you can always walk to Magic Kingdom if you don’t want to wait for the monorail (although I’d ride the monorail a few times because it’s just such a neat form of transportation.) For the parks not accessible via monorail, there are buses, which run with regularity between both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
Food: Bay Lake Tower is connected to Disney’s Contemporary Resort via skybridge. Craving Mickey waffles? Step over to the Contempo Café during breakfast. You won’t have to worry about running late for early morning reservations at Chef Mickey’s as it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump over the skybridge to this character meal, too. There’s also The Wave of American Flavors downstairs in the Contemporary, or you can hop on the monorail to eat at various locations at the Polynesian Village Resort or Grand Floridian Resort.
Views: Bay lake Tower is horseshoe shaped, with rooms facing either Bay Lake and the pool area or facing out toward Magic Kingdom. Our room overlooked Bay Lake, and each night we had a front-row seat to the Electric Water Pageant. However, there are also interior overlook areas to view Magic Kingdom. My youngest enjoyed taking his bath and then racing down the hall to the windows to watch the fireworks.
Space: There is nothing better than a villa when you’re on vacation. I love being able to wash my clothes mid-week so that I don’t have as much laundry to catch up on once I’m home. Having a kitchen meant having breakfast and a few dinners in the room. My children will begrudgingly share a bed, but with a villa, they don’t have to!
