Getting up Early on Vacation: Why It’s a Great Idea at Disney!

Anna TrosperDecember 8, 2016AK Tree of LifeOk, I know waking up early on vacation doesn’t sound like a vacation, but if you’re at Walt Disney World getting up early has its advantages. Below are some reasons you might want to rethink your opinion about sleeping in at Disney!Disney has some great tours for guests and many of them take you behind the scenes.  Getting in on this action means getting up early! Disney’s Animal Kingdom has the Backstage Tales Tour and it starts at 7:30 am. This tour shows guests how Disney takes care of and feeds all of the animals. You’ll get to see a state of the art veterinary hospital and visit the Animal Nutrition Center. Are you into trains? Then, The Magic Behind Our Steam Train Tour  in the Magic Kingdom is for you! But again, this tour starts at 7:30am.Having breakfast in the park is another good reason to get up before the sun rises. Some of the Disney restaurants take early morning reservations and often this is about one hour or more before the park opens. YES!!! You can get into the park before it opens! Imagine getting into the Magic Kingdom before it’s gates officially open and walking down Main Street USA with no one around you. Not only would this be a great way for your little one to see Cinderella’s Castle for the first time but think of all the great photos you would get! When going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park it’s always a good idea to get there early. First thing in the morning is the best time to experience Kilimanjaro Safaris. Not only is there less wait, but many of the animals are much more active. As the day gets longer and hotter, the animals are less active.Going to Epcot? Then head on over to Les Halles Boulangerie - Patisserie. Although World Show case does not open until 11:00 am, this great French bakery opens at 9:00 am. During this time World showcase is relatively empty, so enjoy a leisurely stroll and get great photos of your favorite country.MK gateThe Magic Kingdom has a pre-park opening show, the Welcome Show and the only way to see this is to get up early. You need to be at the park at least 30 minutes before rope drop. This is a great way to start off your day at the park.If you get to the park just before it opens you will be one of the first guests inside. This will allow you to go on your favorite rides with little or no wait.  Our family is always able to ride at least 3 to 5 rides in the first 2 hours. Most of the time we have ridden all the rides in Frontierland and then we are ready to use our fastpasses. By 2:00 pm we are ready to head back to the resort and jump in the pool. We rest and go back to the park later in the day and we don’t feel like we missed a thing. As you can see there are many good reasons to get up early when on a Walt Disney World vacation. So, set those alarms and you’ll get great photos, ride more rides and maybe learn something new!If you have been thinking of planning a Disney vacation and do not know where to start, you are in the right place.  I would be happy to help you book and plan your magical vacation.
