Good Age for Kids to Experience Disney

Kristal MarcumApril 27, 2017What is a good age to take your kids to Disney?  This is a question I hear a lot, especially now that I’m a concierge agent.  Well, I have been traveling to Walt Disney World for many years and have taken my daughter every year since her birth.  Actually, her first visit she was only 6 weeks old.Six weeks old? Yes, it seems young, but the trip was still enjoyable.  She responded to lights and music and we were still able to do quite a bit of all the parks.  It was the years that followed that Disney became even more magical for me.  I already loved all things Disney, but getting to see the parks through my daughter's eyes was a whole new experience and still is.As a toddler, my daughter loved the shows and the characters. We spent many hours playing in the special play areas in the parks.  The one I remember most was in Dino Dig at Animal Kingdom.  We were there for hours digging up fossils - she just didn’t want to leave.
Her interests changed as she got older.  One year it was all about meeting every character.  I honestly don’t think I rode a single ride that year.  You may think this sounds crazy, but we loved it. My daughter was happy and we have some awesome pictures from that year.  Another year was about the themed restaurants.  She had walked by them before but now wanted to try them.  Her favorite to this day is 50s Primetime Café.I believe my daughter was 8 when she was finally tall enough for the big rides.  This was a huge time for her and exciting for me.  We rode everything and she loved most of it.  Dinosaur terrified her, but she fell in love with Expedition Everest. It’s now her first choice on FastPasses. My daughter will be 10 on our next trip and has been enough that she is helping plan - she chose our resort and our restaurants.  She already has the list of FastPasses when our 60-day mark arrives.  It has been wonderful to watch her grow and change over the years, but she also helped me love Disney in a whole new way.  Sometimes we just need to see the world through a child’s eyes; it is the purest and sweetest form of joy.
