How to Snap the Perfect Universal Globe Shot

Everything is happening. As you pass Red Oven Pizza Bakery (yum! #ShamelessPlug) and turn the corner you see it – the Universal Globe in all its magnificent glory. We all know what needs to be done: vacation bragging. Nothing says “Wish you were here! ” like the perfect picture in front of the Universal Globe.imageCourtesy of Instagram user @borgesmunozFollow these steps to make sure you nail that Globe pic:

  1. Resist the allure of the bridge: Cross the bridge, head around the Globe, and continue until you’re right in front of it. At this spot, you’ll find fewer people and be able to see the full Globe – epic mist and all.
  2. If you’re not a selfie ninja, find someone to take a picture: The best option here is to find a Universal Orlando Team Member. We’re skilled in the art of vacation pics, have used a wide variety of cameras and genuinely enjoy doing it. If there are no team members around, look for a group who seems to be struggling with their own Globe selfie and propose a swap of photo-taking services. I promise they will not say no (*not a real guarantee).
  3. Stand a little off to the side: While it may be tempting to plant yourself right in front of the Universal Globe, this can make proper framing difficult. The basic rules of photography dictate that the subject (you) should be 1/3 of the way into the frame. By standing off to the side, the picture-taker should naturally place you in that area of the frame with the Globe in the background toward the center.imageCourtesy of Instagram user tchelavih
  4. Give directions: Now is not the time to be timid, precious vacation bragging rights hang in the balance. Tell your picture-taker to wait for the word “Universal” to spin around (crucial), take multiple pictures (use burst mode if possible), and make sure they get the whole Globe in the shot (you never know). Once the photos have been taken, look them over and if they are not up to par – try, try again. This is serious business, after all.

Bonus tip – Dodge the crowds: If you can, hold off on that Instagram post until the afternoon when you’re grabbing lunch at The CowFish in Universal CityWalk (#ShamelessPlug) or heading over to Islands of Adventure. There will be much less foot traffic around the Universal Globe in the middle of the day. Plus, if you find yourself with plenty of open space and time in front of the Globe, you can get creative. Maybe use forced perspective to make it look like you’re spinning the Globe on your finger like a basketball, about to eat it whole, or carrying it on your back like the Greek God of Atlas. The post How to Snap the Perfect Universal Globe Shot for Your #UniversalMoments appeared first on Close Up.
