It’s Show Time on Virgin Voyages

Cruises have built a reputation of being a way to watch Broadway style shows in either a compressed timeframe or more relaxed venue, however, Virgin Voyages has decided they’re doing shows THEIR way rather than Broadway!

The three shows I saw on my recent Virgin Voyage were called Dual Reality, UNTITLEDDANCEPARTYTHING and No One Sleeps Alone.  Here’s what to expect and where to sit to enjoy them the most.

Dual Reality – Presented by 7 Fingers, this is an acrobatic show based on Romeo and Juliette.  I’d recommend heading to the venue called The Red Room as close as possible to when doors open for the show which will likely be about 30 minutes prior to showtime.  You will be given a red or blue band and instructed to sit on that side of the stadium style venue as the floor is the stage for this show.  You’ll want to sit as close to the floor as possible so you can see the height and speed of the work being done during the show.  The performers are impressive acrobats, but the juggling had some issues.  They also had some choreography issues during our show which led to an injury…thankfully everyone was ok.  I would love to see this show again once they have it a bit more polished!

UNTITLEDDANCEPARTYTHING – This show is exactly what the title indicates.  It’s a dance party…thing.  The dance troupe is amazing!  They dance around you, with you and on the stages around the room.  Held in the same venue as Dual Reality, you’ll be standing the entire time of this show so be sure to wear comfortable shoes!  You’ll start by watching the troupe dance and join in by the end of the show.  This was a super fun show that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen!  Be sure to stand just to the right front of the part of the stage that is sticking out in the middle of the room.  Trust me, it will make sense when you get there.

No One Sleeps Alone – This musical seminar is not for everyone.  The presenter invites you to reevaluate how you build intimate connections.  If you are adventurous and willing to participate, try to get in the downstairs portion of The Manor.  If you’re unsure, head upstairs so you can leave if this isn’t a show you’re enjoying.

The crew members said they have plans to add at least two more shows to their cruise schedule, but no word yet on what those will be.  What’s your favorite show you’ve seen at sea?  Email me at CFulton@WishesFamilyTravel.com to discuss if a Virgin Voyage is right for you!

This is the third part in Carrie's series on Virgin Voyages. You can read part one and part two here.
