Joining the club at Loew’s Portofino Bay Resort

I’m very particular when it comes to traveling. I prefer a queen or king bed, space to store luggage and clothing, an easy chair to relax in or simply to sit in to put on my shoes, and a bathroom with space for us to all get ready for the day. During my last trip to Universal Orlando Resort, I found all of this and more in a club level room at Loew’s Portofino Bay Resort!

Club level rooms at Portofino Bay include 2 queen beds. If you are traveling with 5 guests in your party, you won’t need an extra room. At 490-square feet, there is plenty of room for a rollaway bed. (These do come at an additional cost, and are available upon request.)  Your club level room will also have a closet with robes for your use, a mini-fridge and mini coffee maker, water bottles (these come with a fee, so I only advise using them if you have no other option), and bathroom with shower, soaking tub, and double vanities. My only complaint about this room was the bathroom; I prefer a larger shower, and found the shower stall somewhat small. It did have a nice soaking tub, and a speaker so that you could listen to what was on television while you freshened up.

Club level not only gives you a more space to spread out in your room, but also gives you access to the club lounge. Portofino Bay’s club lounge serves breakfast, snacks, heavy hors d’ouevres, and a nightly “dolce finale” – which is dessert, wine and beer. (This was my favorite of the offerings – I adore dessert, and allowing my kids to eat cookies before bed screams vacation!)

The club lounge, open daily from 7am-10pm, can only be accessed by those guests who are staying in a club level room. Mornings do tend to be busier than other times of day as people eat breakfast before heading to the parks. We arrived early each day (about 20 minutes before the lounge opened) so that we could be in line to enter. The lounge has tables and chairs, as well as couches, where you can sit to enjoy food, and you can also take food back to your room. We usually sat in the lounge since we would be heading to the parks.

  • Tip: If you are traveling with a small child, plan to take your own sippy cup or grab an empty paper coffee cup. Juice glasses are glass, and are heavy bottomed; they are not child-friendly for younger kids.

There is a concierge desk in the lounge to provide dining reservation assistance and suggestions, information about other Orlando attractions, etc.

All guests at Loew’s Portofino Bay Resort receive Early Park Admission to all three theme parks, as well as Universal Express Unlimited Passes. These perks, coupled with the club lounge, sealed the deal for my husband.

Club level rooms are also available at Hard Rock Hotel and Loew’s Royal Pacific Resort.
