Let Mama (Melrose's) Feed You Right!

When you are looking for casual Italian fare, look no further than Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. My family recently had lunch here, and it was a very pleasant experience.From the moment you enter the restaurant, the lobby décor, including black-and-white photos of former ABC network celebrities, you know you’re in a comfortable Italian eatery. The dining room itself is decorated with faux grapes, music memorabilia, and tiny white lights draped everywhere.
We started our meal with appetizers – calamari, flatbreads, and tomatoes with fresh mozzarella. The appetizers were large enough to be a small meal in themselves, and each of us ordered one! Needless to say, we shared and all had the opportunity to indulge a bit. I personally loved the tomatoes and mozzarella; it’s one of my favorite dishes, no matter where I am! My oldest daughter enjoyed the mushroom flatbread.
Our main dishes came out quickly. Between us, we had the Charred Strip Steak, Penne alla Vodka, and the Spaghetti and Meatballs. The steak was fantastic, cooked perfectly to order. The four-cheese macaroni that was the standard side dish with the steak was out of this world – so good. The spaghetti and meatballs was fairly standard, but my daughter said the penne was a touch spicy for her taste.We had the Dessert Sampler, which includes Blood Orange Cake, Tiramisu, and Lemon Cheesecake topped with Passion Fruit Pearls. While I loved the Tiramisu, I think you could bring my kids a bowl of the Passion Fruit Pearls and they’d be happy with just that!
By the time we finished our meals, you could have rolled us out of there to take naps, we were so full and satisfied. Our meal at Mama Melrose’s was delicious, with great service.Mama Melrose’s is one of three locations in Hollywood Studios where you can make a special reservation, and your meal will come with tickets to a reserved seating area for that night’s showing of Fantasmic!
