Lunch at Three Broomsticks

Stephanie Peavy5.17.19On my last visit to Universal Orlando, my family and I ate at Three Broomsticks. This fun, Harry Potter themed restaurant is located in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal’s Islands of Adventure. We chose this restaurant for the theme, not for the food, so I wasn’t sure how we were going to like it. My family and I were split in our opinions.First, let me mention, the atmosphere felt like stepping into a Harry Potter movie. The attention to detail is remarkable, but I would expect no less from Universal. One interesting fact that I discovered while researching this restaurant, was that Three Broomsticks is in the movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The restaurant was actually modeled after the movie. This eatery is made to look like an inn or an old English pub. It really is an immersive experience. Even the wait staff is in costume, so you definitely get the all-around effect of being in a village inside the movie. The ordering process was easy. Since it is considered a quick-service restaurant, we walked up to the counter, ordered our food, and found our own seat. My husband ordered the Rotisserie Smoked Chicken Platter which included roasted potatoes and corn on the cob. The chicken was flavorful, but the potatoes were a little over seasoned. Overall, the chicken was a good choice. My choice, on the other hand, was not as good.f-26-19-12875501_MOpylhFq_rotisserie-chicken-withI ordered the Cornish Pasties with a side garden salad. The pasties consist of a flaky crust stuffed with ground beef, vegetables, and potatoes. Even though I like all of these things, it was the seasoning that was too overpowering. I’m not sure what the flavor was, but it was too much and I could not enjoy the filling.f-26-15-12875501_46kDZyyB_3broom_cornishMy daughter ordered off the kid’s menu and got the chicken strips with French fries. It was good, according to her. I feel it is a safe choice for kids since it is hard to mess up fried chicken strips.f-26-14-12875501_IP613fVG_3_Broomsticks_kids_mealOverall, it was a fun experience, but the food was lacking a little. I would recommend it as somewhere to go because of the atmosphere, but my advice is stick with the chicken. If you are an adventurous eater, you may have a different opinion of the food choices. I appreciate the lengths Universal Orlando goes to in making sure visitors feel a part of the movie. If you are a Harry Potter fan, it is worth the visit.
