Multi Generational Cruising
By Sari Palmeri, Concierge Agent
August 12, 2012 was a truly Magical Day for my family. We had been waiting for this day to arrive from the first day they opened the dates for the Disney Magic to be sailing out of New York City. Traveling together would be my parents, brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew (twins), my husband, my two boys (ages 3 and 5 at the time) and myself. My kids had NO idea until the day we were leaving and waiting to be picked up to be taken to the port. They were shocked when the van and car pulled up and my parents and brothers family were all there to go with us.
From the moment we got there we had the best time. We got to take pictures with Mickey while waiting to board. When we got onboard we got some food, explored the ship and then headed to the sailing away party. Everyone danced (except my dad since he’s in a motorized scooter), sang and had a great time. We knew right then that this would be the best family vacation.
My husband and I actually got to watch a movie and have a conversation while sitting on a lounge chair while my kids were in the kids club, my kids loved the kids club and didn’t want to come out each night to go to sleep (it was usually around 11:30 pm), I got to go for runs around the deck, the shows were unbelievably fantastic and the meals were absolutely amazing and with picky eaters, that is not a simple task. The waiters made sure that my kids would have something that they enjoyed eating so everyone else could have a great meal and enjoy the family time together.
My husband wasn't thrilled with the idea of a Disney Cruise but he had no choice since this was our family trip. He had the best time and will always cruise with Disney because we booked our next cruise on-board. I never thought that would happen.
My children will always remember being there with their grandparents, their cousins (who were old enough to go to The Edge, but liked playing with them at the Oceaneer’s Club and Lab) and aunt and uncle and they keep asking when we can go away. They have no idea we are going again in November! These are memories that will stay with my entire family our entire lives. Everyone can go on a Disney Cruise. My dad is proof of this because he has very limited mobility, is not healthy and he was able to do everything that we did and completely enjoyed every moment. OK, he wasn’t allowed to play in the kids club, but he did everything else!Especially magical memories to last a lifetime! For assistance with your multi generational Disney Cruise, email Sari Palmeri, She has been there, done that!
