My Norwegian Sky Weekend

By Shellie Wylie

I loved it! My husband and I flew into Miami the night before our three night cruise on the Norwegian Sky. This would be our first NCL experience. As an avid Disney Cruise Line fan, I was a little worried that we would be disappointed in the service, food, and over all experience. I really had nothing to worry about!

The Sky is an older ship but she is kept up well. We had a very nice balcony stateroom. It wasn’t quite as large as I would have liked, and it was lacking in storage space but it was fine for our short cruise. The champagne and chocolate strawberries that greeted us were a special treat we enjoyed on our balcony! (NCL treats its agent partners VERY well)NCL Sky and EarMarked Conf 021We ate at the buffet, quick pool deck snacks, main dining rooms, and the specialty steak house – all the food was good; some was exceptional. We really enjoyed the free style dining so we could just show up or place a reservation when we wanted to eat. I am not a big fan of the set dining times on other cruise lines. The drawback to anytime dining is that you may have a wait before a table is available. But, really is that any different than trying to eat at your local Outback Restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night? So, you grab a drink and wait for your table. I find that much more appealing than having to be ready for dinner at exactly 5:30 or 8.

The service was very good. I would say that the service provided was nearly to Disney Cruise Line standards. All crew members were polite, knowledgeable and willing to enhance our NCL experience to the best of their ability. We attended a private Captain’s cocktail part-y one night. It quickly became apparent why the service was so good on the ship. The standard was set from the top down. All the officers, including the Captain, were professional yet fun. A really great combination on a cruise ship.NCL Sky and EarMarked Conf 088I am looking forward to our next Norwegian Cruise because of my experience on the Sky. They have won me over to give them a try. My dream is to sail in one of the most spectacular suites available on a cruise – a NCL Haven Suite. These suites open to a private courtyard, with a semi private pool and butler level service. Now, that sounds like the perfect place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! For more information you may contact Shellie via email or call her at 864-649-1016.
