New Dumbo at Walt Disney World

By: Susan SharpLike many families, Dumbo is one of my family’s all-time favorite rides at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.  It is so popular that for the new Fantasyland expansion the Imagineers moved Dumbo to a larger location in the new Storybook Circus and added a twin ride.  Along with the move it has also received a beautiful and vibrant paint overhaul – perfectly matching the blue, red and gold color scheme of the Storybook Circus.  The most amazing change however is found upon entering the queue.Disney has introduced a revolutionary way to wait for your turn to ride.  Inside the Big Top Tent that sits between both Dumbos is an indoor playground.  Once you get inside the tent, the host or hostess gives each family a pager – just like the kind used at many busy restaurants.  The children can play and climb until its time to ride rather than anxiously waiting in line.There is plenty of seating for the adults all around the perimeter of room and in the center – a circus ring with smaller obstacles for younger children. Having loads of fun?  If the children are not yet ready for a ride they can continue to play in the Big Top until they are spent – simply let the host or hostess know and they will reset your pager.  My children have spent many evenings playing out the last of their energy while my husband and I share delicious desserts from Big Top Souvenirs – right across from Dumbo.
