No Better Youth Club at Sea!

The Disney Cruise Line Youth Club

By Marsha Williams

March 19, 2015

The below article was transcribed by Marsha Williams, Wishes Family Travel Concierge Agent, as told to her by her son Charles, who is 7-years old.  Charles has sailed on four Disney cruises.I have sailed on 3 different cruise lines and experienced the youth clubs on each one.  Out of all of them, my favorite youth clubs are on the Disney ships.  I have sailed on the Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy.  The youth clubs on those ships are very big.  They practically take up half of the deck!Based on my age, I was able to go to either Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab.  Since they are on the same floor and are connected, I could easily between both of them.  Each club offers different activities, so, I could choose which activity I wanted to do.  Each night, I would look at the Personal Navigator, which lists all activities onboard the ship, and choose the activity I wanted to do the next day.  In the Oceaneer Lab, I could participate in activities like making Flubber. I could also participate in video game competitions.  If I did not want to participate in planned activities, I did not have to.  The youth clubs have multiple rooms with different themes where I could play on the computers, dress up, or have fun in Andy’s Room.Interactive Floor! This was a big hit!My favorite thing to do was play video games, like Mario Kart.  Four players could play at once.  The game would be on a giant screen, bigger than my daddy’s television in the basement.  I was even able to play Mario Kart against Goofy one night. I did not even know he was going to be there.  I have to admit Goofy was a very good player, but, I still came in first, even though he kept hitting me with fireballs.  Playing against Goofy was really fun!  I really liked that different characters would come to the club and I could choose whether to meet them or not.I also liked that I could go to the youth club morning, noon, or night.  I was a night owl.  The youth club didn’t close until midnight and I was there to help close it down and, even at that time, I did not want to leave.  However, if I got tired or just wanted to rest, there were bean bags for me to use.  They were very comfortable.  And, if I wanted to leave, I would just tell a youth counselor who would call my Mom or Dad on their wave phone to come pick me up.  The youth counselors were very helpful, nice and played with me. They even recognized me when I was not in the club.I can’t wait to go back on another Disney Cruise so I can go to the youth club again!Pixie HollowI’m sure other kids would love the youth clubs just as much as I did.  Contact my mom, Marsha Williams, or your Wishes agent so your children can experience the youth clubs on their Disney Cruise Line vacation!Learn more about this blogger, Marsha Williams.
