Quick Eating on a Budget at Magic Kingdom Park

Missy RyanDecember 20, 2016While visiting Disney, seeing my beloved castle is one of my favorite things to do, although, I have to admit the food ranks right up there with itAs I prepare for each trip, I start to list my top choices.  As many of you may or may not know, when staying on property at a resort, you get the ultimate perk of making dining reservations 180 days before you travel. To some this could be quite overwhelming. To others, like me, it is a type A person’s dream come true. However, I often find myself not being as organized when it comes to my quick serve meals. These meals are any meal that you are not being served by a wait staff. Aside from Be Our Guest, they do not need reservations. Several families and clients have also expressed a concern as to “what to eat for a quick serve and where?” I decided to compile a short and sweet list focused on  The Magic Kingdom that I felt were quick, easy, delicious and economical.I am going to start with a new experience. One that I had no idea why I ever passed up! Located just behind the castle to the left is what is known as Sleepy Hollow. Depending on if you are a waffle any time of the day kind of person will depend on if this would be a meal or a snack. Each waffle is about the size of a regular size paper plate. You have your choice of strawberries and whip cream as a topping or the waffle sandwich. The waffle sandwich is a Nutella lovers delight. Topped with strawberries and bananas and folded in half for easy handling. I myself have enjoyed these fabulous waffles for a meal at lunch or even a breakfast for dinner quick meal. Not only delicious but budget friendly![gallery size="large" ids="5807,5808,5809"]Another fun and yummy experience that made the list would be Casey’s Corner. Hot dogs are not my typical meal or anything I am ever searching to have. However, Casey’s will change your mind real quick! Located on the corner of Main Street on the left just before the castle sits a simple yet fun décor and easy atmosphere of hot dogs and corn dogs that will make you have your taste buds singing take me out to the ball game. The menu offers hot dogs with toppings such as chili cheese, BBQ slaw, baskets of mini corn dogs and shoe string fries. The mini corn dogs have become my absolute favorite! The meal includes a basket of mini corn dogs and a side of shoe string fries for only $7.99. My kind of deal!My favorite pick at Magic Kingdom and one of the most talked about quick serves would be; Be Our Guest. Located in the new Fantasy Land, Be Our Guest offers breakfast and lunch as a quick serves while dinner is a sit down. This is the only quick service experience in the Magic Kingdom that requires an advanced dining reservation to be made. The perk of the advanced dining reservation is that guests may pick their meals online 30 days prior to travel. When you arrive you are able to bypass the 2nd check in line along with the food order line. It is a win, win!  If you are curious as to what my pick is on the menu, I love the Carved Turkey sandwich. It is served on a baguette with Dijon mayo and is absolutely amazing. Do not forget to add the master’s cupcake for dessert!Other fun quick options are;Pinocchio’s Haus; several items to choose from such as flatbread pizza, pasta, salad, meatball subs, along with kid friendly options as well. The fun perk is that if you eat inside at a window seat you can watch the small World guests entering the ride and wave as they come by on their boat.Columbia Harbour House located in Liberty square is not just another counter service. Once inside you will feel as if you wandered back in time to Colonial America. Enjoy light fare items. My favorite is the Lobster roll.  Other favorites are the Anchor’s Aweigh Sandwich, Fish & Chips, Hummus and Tomato sandwich and broccoli slaw. Great combinations!

Meals should be delicious, lean towards nutritious, and never leave your bank account suspicious!
