Rooftop Tastings at the Coca-Cola Store

30 June | Rebecca Jones

When my clients plan their Walt Disney World vacations with me, I always encourage a down day in the middle of your trip. This gives you the opportunity to rest, sleep in a little bit, enjoy your resort pool, and explore the gem that is Disney Springs. This shopping and entertainment district is free to visit and explore, and has so many opportunities to make fun memories outside the theme parks.

One of those fun memories can be had at the Coca-Cola Store on the west side of the Springs. The first few floors of the store are a collector’s paradise, with products like shirts, mugs, and even purses made from pull-tabs and recycled cans. But the rooftop is where the fun is!

On the rooftop, there is a tasting café. You have a lot of options for tasting various Coca-Cola products, from the freestyle machine, where you can create your own concoctions, to a Coke float, to cocktails or mocktails made with different versions of Coke.

Recently, some friends and I visited and took a “Taste Around the World” by sampling 16 different Coke products from different countries. I took some notes as we tried them, and these were our reviews and opinions of the different beverages we tried.

‘Stoney Tangawizi’ from Tanzania was very spicy and the taste felt like it went up my nose as I drank it.

‘Bonaqua Fruits Apple Pear’ from Germany was good. It was bubbly, and we felt it would have been better flat.

‘Mazoe Blackberry’ is from Malawi, and tasted like Kool-Aid you get at VBS. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

‘VegitaBeta’ is an orange drink from Japan, and it tasted like vitamin water.

‘Del Valle Jamaica & Nada’ is from Mexico. It tasted like cinnamon cherry coke, which was pretty good.

‘Fanta Kolita’ is a flat sode from Costa Rica. It reminded us of a strawberry kids’ drink.

‘Kist Strawberry’ is super sweet and carbonated, from Panama.

‘Thumbs Up’  from India is basically a flat Coke.

‘Beverly’ from Italy is famous for its bitter taste, but it was honestly not as bad as I remember from tasting it in Club Cool at Epcot.

‘Sparletta Sparberry’ from Zimbabwe was good, like a strawberry flavored Kool-Aid with tiny bubbles.

‘Sprite Cucumber’ was my favorite drink of the tasting. From Russia, it’s lightly sweet, with a tiny bit of carbonation, almost like spa water.

‘Aquarius Libre’ from Spain was flat and had a weird aftertaste but not unpleasant. I found myself smacking lips after tasting it, for some reason.

‘Delaware Punch’ was basically grape Kool-Aid without enough sugar, similar to Pedialyte. Sorry, Honduras!

‘Bjare Lingonberry’ from Sweden was slightly sour but also tart, and flat. It had a unique flavor, like a raspberry jolly rancher.

‘Inca Cola’ was the only yellow drink, and from Peru. It reminded me of Fanta pineapple with vanilla added in and was carbonated. I enjoyed it.

‘Smart Sour Plum’ was a terrible way to end the tasting. This drink from China tastes like an ashtray. Honestly. Stay far away, but if your kids or friends try it, be sure to record their reaction. It’ll give you laughs for years to come.

As you can see, tastes varied from product to product, country to country. What I like about this option is that I can get a true taste of different cultures without leaving Orlando, and it’s only $15.00! A fantastic way to spend some time, make fun memories, explore the world, and all without breaking the bank.

I’d love to help you with your next visit to Walt Disney World! If you don’t have a favorite Wishes agent, please call me at (325) 733-8399, or email me at Rebecca@WishesFamilyTravel.com. Hope to hear from you soon!
