One of the newest Enchanting Extras for guests to experience is Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers in Star Wars: Galaxies Edge at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. In February, my son got to experience this immersive and magical ceremony. It is perfect for fans and enthusiasts of the Star Wars franchise.

Located in the middle of Black Spire Outpost, you would miss this hidden building. No distinct signage in keeping with the theme of Star Wars, you must keep the shop a secret to avoid being discovered by the First Order. If you want to experience Savi’s a reservation is needed 60 days in advance.

When it is time for your reservation you will be met by a Gatherer. Gatherers are a group of people left to pass down Jedi history and knowledge to young Padawans. When you enter the workshop you are met with parts and pieces to build your lightsaber and where you will choose from 4 themes:

  • Peace and Justice

Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians.

  • Power and Control

Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith homeworld and abandoned temples.

  • Elemental Nature

This theme embodies the Force—an energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth.

  • Protection and Defense

Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force.

My son chose Power and Control. After choosing your theme, you will then choose your kyber crystal. The crystals come in 4 colors, red, blue, green and purple. The kyber crystal changes the color of your lightsaber blade. Should you want another color, visit Don Ondar’s Den of Antiques, there you will find Rae’s yellow kyber crystal.

Once all lightsabers have been fully assembled this is when the bonding ceremony begins, which is the highlight of the entire experience. The lights and music change to meet the mood, builders raise their lightsabers into the air and in unison all lightsabers activate. My son said it was a memorable experience and loved every second! Some consider Savi’s a splurge, but it is something I recommend. Zero regrets!

Travel agent tip: Book a late night reservation so you can have empty park pictures.

I would love to help you plan your next vacation!
