Some Bubbly on the Dream

Leslie Dinunzio3.26.19Bubbles!While Disney Cruise Line is well-known as a great vacation for the whole family, there are many activities for different and specific age groups ranging from toddlers to tweens/teens to adults-only. Some of the very popular options for adults that can be booked are “tastings”.f-26-14-12591875_5W1f8YiS_IMG_6376Tastings are hour-long classes where you learn specifics about various kinds of alcoholic beverages. Disney Cruise Line offers many options depending on the sailing which can include martini, beer, rum, mixology and champagne! While I am a seasoned cruiser (and have tried many tasting classes over the years!), my recent sailing on the Disney Dream was my first time attending a champagne tasting. The tasting took place in Pink, the Dream’s champagne bar. From the moment you approach, you know you are entering someplace special. The entrance itself looks like a big bubble. Pink is beautiful, shiny, feminine and cozy. Upon arrival, we were each greeted with five flutes of various champagnes and cocktails. Our Cast Member host was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a brief overview of the origin of champagne. He described different brands, blends and vintages as well as teaching about incorporating champagne into cocktails.f-26-15-12591875_MDC6Ru8x_IMG_6379For our tasting, we tried two champagne blends and a vintage year (you’ll have to go to the tasting to learn the difference) plus two cocktails. We learned which champagnes should be served ice cold and what mixers may be enjoyable with different wines. Once again, the Cast Member shared some fun facts with us along the way. Did you know Dom Perignon was a monk – I didn’t!The tastings range from approximately $20-$35 per person, which is pretty reasonable considering everything included. The champagne tasting was $35 and consisted of five flutes. Once your booking window opens, all tastings can be reserved online via the Onboard Activities tab. Keep in mind, if you need to cancel this activity it must be done 24 hours in advance or you will be charged. I would love to discuss planning a Disney Cruise Line trip for your family and can be reached at Leslie@wishesfamilytravel.com
