Spending Time in DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida

Are you looking for the perfect place at Universal Studios to spend a few hours with your kiddos? Or are you just a big lover of all things DreamWorks? I was very impressed with DreamWorks Land during my recent visit to Universal Orlando Resort with Wishes Family Travel. DreamWorks Land is a new addition to Universal Studios; it opened in June 2024. This new land has different areas based on some of DreamWorks’ most popular franchises including Kung Fu Panda, Trolls, and Shrek. In DreamWorks Land you will find character meets, climbing areas and splash pads, interactive play areas, and live shows.
There are some great character interactions available in DreamWorks Land. I was able to meet King Julian and Shrek and Fiona. Shrek alternates meeting with Fiona or with Donkey! Fiona was adorable and it was a sweet, fun character interaction with her. I was able to watch Donkey and Shrek meet, and it looked like a hilarious character interaction that is very unique. Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse and Poppy were also meeting in the area!
DreamWorks Land was definitely designed with busy children in mind. There are a lot of opportunities for children to interact within this land. Some of the interactive experiences I enjoyed the most are King Harold’s Swamp Symphony in the Shrek area and the Gong of Resounding Resonance in the Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp area. While using King Harold’s Swamp symphony, you step on different lily pads and the corresponding frog statue will make a noise. Very cute! The Gong of Resounding Resonance is a huge gong that will make different noises as you strike it. Quite surprising and good for a laugh!
There are many opportunities in DreamWorks Land for your young park guests to run around and then cool off. Children can climb and explore Shrek’s Swamp for Little Ogres, a large playscape for running and climbing. Along with a splash pad in the Shrek area, an Ogre Dryer is also available! This is an awesome amenity that you will find in different lands within the Universal Parks; when there is a chance you might have become wet by either splash pad or water ride. (Picture being in a human-sized hand dryer!) There are also opportunities to get wet in Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp including the splash area called The Pond of Perpetual Wetness.
Do not miss the DreamWorks Imagination Celebration! This is a fun, upbeat show featuring appearances by Branch and Poppy, Shrek and friends, Po, and King Julian. Dancing is encouraged! Make sure to check out the beautiful mural featuring DreamWorks characters as you leave the show! Po Live is an interactive experience in Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp. Guests are able to meet and talk with Po on an animated screen. A nice place to sit in the shade as your kiddos interact with their favorite KungFu Panda.
Looking for a snack?! In DreamWorks Land you will find Swamp Snacks featuring the fun Shrekzel and green cheese among the other fun Shrek themed snack options. Trolls Treats offer drinks or soft serve ice cream options.
Even though there is only one ride in this area, the Trolls Trollercoaster, there is so much to do in DreamWorks Land! The area was designed with kids in mind and gives them large spaces to play and interact with their environment. Be sure to leave enough time to explore all this land has to offer!
