Take a Ride on the Liberty Belle

When you’re entering Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom near Haunted Mansion, have you ever noticed the large white riverboat, which may either be docked or slowly cruising along the River of America? Let me tell you, the Liberty Belle Riverboat is a not-to-miss attraction! Whether you’re looking for a low-key, relaxing 20 minutes to sit and decompress or the chance to observe an often unseen part of Magic Kingdom, this ride is for you. Several times throughout the day, the riverboat takes you on a short 15-20 minute tour.

The boat has several different decks depending on the view you want. The top deck is nice and sunny, while the lower decks offer a bit of shade. On the start of the loop, you’ll see Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on your left. The view is great– it’s an angle of the attraction you don’t typically see while in the ride queue or on the coaster itself. You can hear the screams from the riders as you slowly glide by.

The majority of the boat ride has lots to see while circling Tom Sawyer Island. You’ll be able to catch a glimpse of some of the areas to explore and bridges to cross if you take the raft over to the island. Those who have been to Magic Kingdom in the days of paper Fast-Passes may remember the hidden paintbrushes each morning – my daughter was one of the lucky children to find a paintbrush once! (For those who don’t know, if you found one of six or so daily hidden paintbrushes, your family would get a paper fast pass valid for any attraction that day). As you continue on your cruise, you’ll see several different props, simulating times long ago. Whether it be a Native American village or waterside shack, there’s lots to see!
