Taking Home the Memories

BC_Taking_Home_the_Memories_Photo_1By: Becky CriswellFebruary 27, 2018There’s one thing that gets me into trouble on every Walt Disney World vacation (well besides endless desserts and yummy food). Can you guess what it is!? Yup, souvenirs! Disney fanatic + giant souvenir shops = unhappy wallet!I’ve asked some fellow Disney fans what some of their favorite treasures are to bring home from vacation and I’ve put together a list of what I think are the five best (and most practical) souvenirs. So here we go – counting down from great to greatest:

5. Pressed Pennies

Pressed penny machines can be found throughout Disney parks. These make great souvenirs because they are fun, unique, and inexpensive! Most machines take a penny and two quarters. This is also a great idea because pressed pennies are something you can collect on any vacation. I think it would be fun to get one from every place you travel. It’s nice that Disney machines offer a variety of designs to choose from. You can also purchase a pressed penny album

4. Christmas Ornaments

I have to include this one because it’s one that I hear time and time again as a favorite souvenir among Disney enthusiasts. I know people (include myself) who have an entire tree devoted to Disney ornaments. There’s no shortage of ornaments to choose from and they also make great gifts. It’s fun to pass the ornaments along to your children, and also a great way to be reminded of your fantastic vacation every holiday season.

3. Disney Pens and Paper

Who doesn’t love to write notes on Mickey shaped papers with a Minnie Mouse pen? This is probably extra exciting for me, given my profession, but I think Disney-themed office items can be fun and highly practical for anyone! I love the sticky notes shaped like Disney treats!

2. Kitchen Accessories

In my home we have Disney measuring cups, which my children love to bake with. We also have a Mickey Mouse serving spatula and it always starts up a Disney conversation when we have guests over! I love having Disney items that I get to use every single day. The kitchen is definitely a spot where I spend a lot of time. Another Disney fan told me that she loves bringing home hand towels to hang in the kitchen so she can see them all the time.

1. Memory Maker Package

Number one on our list is not something you physically pick up at a Disney gift shop, but many agree it is the best souvenir of all. The top spot on this list goes to the Memory Maker package. If you don’t know about Memory Maker, this photo package includes digital downloads of all photos taken of you by Disney cast members during your stay. Without the package, you must pay for each photo individually and it can be very pricey. For the advance purchase price of $169 (current price as of September 2017) , all photos are yours! This includes photos and video clips taken of you on select Disney attractions, as well as the character photos and photos taken in front of Disney’s most famous icons, such as Cinderella’s Castle or the Tree of Life. Disney photographers do a great job capturing your special moments, and they even add a little magic to your photos sometimes! It is true that Disney gift shops have a lot of fun items to offer, but many can agree that the best souvenir of all are the photos that will help you remember your magical vacation forever. So there ya have it! My opinion on the top 5 souvenir options in Disney World. Would you like to plan a vacation and bring home some of these fun items?
