The Waves of the Sea Help Me Get Back to Me

There is something about the sand beneath my feet, the sound of the waves crashing, the breezes and the views that go on for miles that simply bring me joy.California offers an entire coastline, over 1,100 miles in fact, of beaches to explore. Today, I am going to highlight two wonderful beaches to consider while in the Anaheim area.When visiting Disneyland, Universal Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm and the area, many people like to take advantage of the close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. May families like to enjoy a day away from the parks and crowds. A drive to the beach can be the perfect “down day”!Located about 16 miles, or 35 minutes (give or take with LA traffic!), from the Anaheim area, Seal Beach is a wonderful choice!
With a mile and a half of soft sand beach, the second longest wooden pier in California (1,835 feet long) and a quiet and charming community, I would highly suggest spending some time at Seal Beach. A children’s playground is available, the beach is wide and the surf (during our visit) is mellow. The lapping waves made this the perfect choice for families with little ones. Bring a picnic lunch and some sand toys.
Just about 15 minutes south of Seal Beach is Huntington Beach. Very similar in the wide, sandy stretch of beach, we did find that the surf (during our visit) was more powerful, which made this the perfect place to surf and boogie board.
Huntington Beach offered a vibrant “boardwalk” area to rent and ride bikes, shop local vendors and dine. The pier is 1,850 feet long and you will find Ruby’s Surf City Dinner at the end waiting to serve you hamburgers, fries and shakes.
Visit one or visit both!
