Time to Get Out of Your Muggle Clothes!

In my last blog I went over the different wands you can get while in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now I am going to go over the house robes and where you can find them on your trip to Universal Orlando Resort.Admit it, who hasn’t taken a wand shaped object, pointed it at something, flicked your wrist, and exclaimed, 'Wingardium Leviosa.” Don't worry, we've all done it. At least all of us Harry Potter fans! We’ve desperately tried to make an object levitate. Well, when you arrive at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter you will get to do just that and you want to be dressed for the job, right?In the Harry Potter books and movies, Diagon Alley is where all the young wizards and witches attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry go shopping for their supplies before the start of the new school year. This is where you too can get your house robe. Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions is located in Diagon Alley. This is not the only wizarding clothier around, but Madam Malkin’s is the best!Madam Malkin’s is located next door to Flourish and Blotts, and in addition to selling Hogwarts school robes, you can also get all of your accessories. House robes come in all sizes, but I have found if you really want one, I would do this first thing as some of the more popular sizes go fast.One more reason I like to shop here is that inside of Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions there's a giant standing mirror which will actually talk to you when you stand in front of it to try things on. Warning: sometimes she's not the “nicest”. She might school you on your fashion sense, or you might get lucky and receive a compliment. This is what makes it so much fun shopping here!There are four robes you can chose from and each represents one of the houses of Hogwarts. You do know what house you are in, correct? If not, here is a brief synopsis of each to help determine which house best fits you.The first is Gryffindor. Do you fancy yourself to be daring and chivalrous? If you think you have what it takes to hang out with Harry, Hermione, and Ron and to battle trolls and other dark forms of magic, then the Gryffindor House just may be the one for you. Your House crest would be the lion because lions symbolize courage and strength. Your house colors would be gold and red, so I hope you look good in those colors!Next is Slytherin. Sure, some muggles and wizards associate Slytherin with the Dark Arts, but Slytherin has actually bred a lot of talented wizards, (not including He Who Should Not Be Named). Students who are sorted into this house need to possess resourcefulness and ambition, while also exhibiting behavior that is extremely cunning. Of course, most of the wizards who are admitted into Slytherin come from a long line of pure-bred wizards, but the Sorting Hat has been known to let some half-bloods into the house, too. Your house mascot is the serpent and your colors are green and silver.Hufflepuff is the third option. Are you hoping that the Sorting Hat shouts out the silly word, Hufflepuff, once it has deciphered your place at Hogwarts? You'll only be admitted to this house if you're hard working, dedicated, patient, loyal, and of course, friendly. Hufflepuffs are always smiling and they could care less about who wins the Triwizard Tournament because competition just isn't their thing. They are represented by the badger and their house colors are yellow and blackLastly is Ravenclaw. You know what the founder of Ravenclaw liked to say? “Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.” Students from Ravenclaw are particularly intelligent, wise, creative, logical, and extremely clever. In fact, the Sorting Hat seriously considered placing Hermione into Ravenclaw because of her intelligence. All of the smartest witches and wizards are put into this house. Your crest is a large eagle on top of a blue background and your colors are blue and bronze (Blue and grey in the films.)There you have it! The four houses of Hogwarts. Did you find your perfect fit?
