Ready to take on Universal Orlando Resort’s scariest event? Then check out Halloween Horror Nights. This event is definitely not for everyone, but if you enjoy being scared then this is the perfect trip for you! I consider myself to be an absolute scaredy-cat but always have so much fun. So enjoy my Top Ten Tips to make the most of Halloween Horror Nights.

#1 Purchase tickets in advance: Tickets can sell out and prices can also fluctuate due to demand, which you will see closer to Halloween. This means it also gets busier the closer to Halloween.  If possible, also try and go on a weeknight as the crowds will be less!

#2 Arrive Early: If you have park admission to Universal Studios that day then be at the Stay and Scream holding areas by 4:30. These areas allow you to enter the houses earlier. Usually around 5:45. Which is very useful if you did not purchase an Express Pass.

#3 Purchase Stay and Scream instead of Express Passes: Stay and Scream tickets can be purchased for an additional cost. The cost for Stay and Scream 2021 tickets were $30 per person.

#4 Plan a “themed outfit”:  Universal Orlando Resort does not allow costumes or masks but you can plan to wear themed shirts or outfits geared towards one of the many houses! Remember the weather can be chilly at night in September and October so you might want to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, you will thank me later.

#5 Stay Late: Around midnight crowds will begin to thin out plus they will also sell Halloween Horror Night Express Passes for less!

#6 Watch the movies/shows before you go: What a fun way to get you and your family ready for your trip!

#7 Need a break? Ride some rides: There are a few attractions that will stay open during Halloween Horror Nights. Be aware they do close these attractions early. But take advantage of the shorter lines!

#8 Plan an adult-only trip: Children are allowed into Halloween Horror Nights but personally I think it is too intense for little ones. So gather a group of your closest friends, spouse/partner, and have fun!

#9 Try the Scare Zones: Some of our favorite HHN moments come from interacting with the Scare Actors in the Scare Zones. What is a Scare Zone? Typically HHN will feature 4-5 of these outdoor zones throughout Universal Studios. Each zone features a specific theme and characters. These can be a lot of fun and yet also terrifying! Be sure to stick to the sidewalks if you would prefer not to be scared.

#10 Go through each house multiple times: Usually you will miss a lot of little details your first time through. So try and go through again and see what you missed!
