Toothsome Sundaes

Have you ever heard of the term steampunk? Think industrial, gears, metal and the like. In Universal Orlando’s CityWalk area, there is a steampunk themed restaurant, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. You can’t miss the building with the giant pipes and gears rising into the sky. This restaurant is comprised of three parts. There is an actual sit-down restaurant which requires reservations, an elaborate and extravagant chocolate shop with some of the most gorgeous truffles you’ll ever see, and finally, a walk-up ice cream parlor which serves oversized sundaes and milkshakes.

During a recent visit to Universal Orlando with my children, while in line for VelociCoaster on our last day, a sudden thunderstorm closed the ride. After a brief stint in the arcade, we decided to drown our sorrows of missing this new coaster by trying some elaborate ice cream sundaes before we headed back to the resort and to the airport.

The three of us could have easily shared one sundae. However, we decided we needed to try three different ones! Ordering couldn’t be simpler. Upon entering the restaurant, the main dining check-in area is straight ahead, the chocolate shop is towards the right and ice cream is to the left. You order at a counter and are given a number. There were several high top tables and chairs so we were able to sit and wait.

I ordered “May Contain Nuts” which pretty much has any type of peanut and peanut butter candy known to man in it! My daughter ordered “Brookies, Cookies and Cream” which was full of baked goods. My son tried “Birthday Cake” which was pretty much a sundae with an entire slice of sprinkle-filled cake right in the middle. The three of us each barely made a dent and were able to try one another’s. They were all amazing. I highly recommend a sundae or milkshake on your next trip to Universal Orlando! I would be thrilled to help you plan a trip and can be reached at Leslie@wishesfamilytravel.com.
