Top 5 restaurants at Walt Disney World according to my 10 year old son
By: Tiffini HensleyMarch 15, 2018While planning an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World, my husband and I had difficulty trying to decide which restaurants to add to our reservation list. That’s when we decided to ask our son what restaurants he would like to eat at, and why! Below is a list of his top five restaurants at Walt Disney World.
Crystal Palace
The Crystal Palace is located at the end of Main Street in Magic Kingdom. This character buffet includes a visit to your table from Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. The food at dinner varies from carved meats, fish and pastas for adults to chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese for the kids. When I asked my son why he loves this restaurant he said that he liked that we were able to take a break from our meal to watch the Happily Ever After Fireworks, and that he loved that Tigger liked to tease his friends from the 100 Acre Wood.
Garden Grill
The Garden Grill is located in the Land Pavilion of Epcot. The food at this restaurant is served family style, while Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale stop by your table for a visit. The food is on the heartier side, with fresh salad and rolls to start, before they bring out a platter with turkey, sausage and pot roast, surrounded by fresh vegetables and stuffing. For dessert, there’s fresh berry cobbler. The vegetables are all grown downstairs in the Living with the Land! According to my son, this restaurant is awesome because it rotates (the restaurant revolves above the Living with the Land Pavilion while you eat), and because the characters spend a lot of extra time at our table.
Sci Fi Drive-In Diner
The Sci Fi Diner is located in Hollywood Studios, and is truly a unique restaurant. Although they specialize in burgers and shakes, there are other options such as pasta and steak. Instead of a standard table, you are seated in cars with very low lighting, so that you can watch clips from old movies on the drive-in movie screen. My son has this restaurant on his list because of the awesome milkshakes (there’s always a unique option, in addition to the standard chocolate, vanilla and Oreo) and the fact that you get to eat in a “drive-in”.
Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo and Stitch
O’hana is located at the Polynesian Village Resort, and for breakfast features Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. The meal is served family style, and includes Hawaiian sweet bread (pineapple and coconut are baked into the bread), eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles and breakfast potatoes. Although you meet Stitch before you are seated for your meal, the rest of the characters stop by your table. I wasn’t surprised to hear that this meal was on my son’s list, because of the amazing food and he gets to see his favorite character, Stitch.
Be Our Guest
Be Our Guest restaurant is located inside the Beast’s Castle at Magic Kingdom. This restaurant is a quick service location for breakfast and lunch and a table service location for dinner. Lunch here is my son’s favorite. The food has a French flair on some classic favorites, such as grilled cheese and the Croque Monsieur. At breakfast and lunch, the seating is open, and you are able to choose a seat either in the Grand Ballroom, the Castle Gallery or in the West Wing. This restaurant is my son’s favorite because he loves to watch the West Wing transform and watch the petals fall from the rose. He also says that the grey stuff is truly delicious! If you’d like to see additional pictures and videos from my visits to Walt Disney World, please check out my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/thensley.wft.
