Walking to Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks from the Resorts

Walt Disney World has a great transportation system that includes buses (with many bus stops), boats, a monorail system, and the new Disney Skyliner gondola system. It is possible to walk to some of the theme parks from your Disney Resort hotel if you desire. This can be very convenient at times.

Which Resort hotels allow you to walk to certain theme parks?

Magic Kingdom Park

It is possible to walk to the Magic Kingdom from all 3 of the Disney monorail resorts around Seven Seas Lagoon: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Distances: Goole maps

• Contemporary – Magic Kingdom – 0.7 miles

• Grand Floridian – Magic Kingdom – 0.09 miles

• Polynesian – Magic Kingdom – 1.4 miles

If you would rather not walk, you can take the Monorail or a boat to Magic Kingdom Park from these Resort hotels.

EPCOT

All of the EPCOT area Deluxe Resorts are located within easy walking distance of EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance. Here are the walking distance from the lobby to the International Gateway.

• Disney’s Beach Club Resort – 0.27 miles

• Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – 0.36 miles

• Disney’s BoardWalk Inn – 0.40 miles

• Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel – 0.67 miles

• Walt Disney World Swan Hotel – 0.72 miles

If you would rather not walk, you can take a boat to EPCOT from these Resort hotels.

I love staying at the Beach Club when I am visiting EPCOT for one of the festivals. It is so convenient to be right there at the entrance to World Showcase and it is so easy to go back to your room for an afternoon nap or some pool time. If you have little ones who need afternoon down time, you may want to consider one of these Resort hotels for your stay. It could make your life a lot easier while you’re there.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

All the EPCOT area Deluxe Resort hotels are located within easy walking distance of the Hollywood Studios main entrance. If you enjoy a nice walk, then this is great for you. I have walked it, and…well, let’s just say I will take a boat or the Skyliner from now on. 

 Here is walking distance from the lobby to the main entrance.

• Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel – 1.3 miles

• Disney’s BoardWalk Inn – 1.2 miles

• Walt Disney World Swan Hotel - 1.2 mile

• Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – 1.5 miles

• Disney’s Beach Club Resort – 1.6 miles

As you can see, it is a little more of a walk. It is a nice walk on a cool day but, if on a hot Florida summer day, take the Skyliner or a boat.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Unfortunately, there are no walking paths at all to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The only way to get here via Disney mass transportation is by bus.

As you can see, there are Disney Resort hotels within walking distance to most of the theme parks. As your travel planner I will help you find just the right Resort hotel to fit your needs.
