What is DAPPER DAY?

Erica Kocher4.7.20In April of 2019, some of my fellow concierge agents and I experienced our first ever DAPPER DAY event at Walt Disney World in Florida. When we first decided to join in on the DAPPER DAY festivities, we really didn’t know what to expect other than it was an opportunity to join other Disney lovers, dress up, and head out to the parks.While we were walking around the Walt Disney World theme parks in our stylish dresses, we heard many people say “Why is everyone so dressed up today?” That question was a great question because thousands of dapper men & women had joined in on this bi-annual event. It also gave me the idea of this great blog to help get more people interested in this fabulous event.Taken from the DAPPER DAY webpage: “Started in February 2011 by LA designer Justin J., DAPPER DAY® Events celebrates fun, refined style from yesterday and today. DAPPER DAY is an organization that produces events that let you “step out in style!” In addition to Walt Disney World in Florida, they also organize events at Disneyland in California and Disneyland in Paris. In the Los Angeles area, they also organize elegant outings and social events at places like museums and other them parks. They have an online store where you can purchase exclusive accessories and fashion collaborations.My personal experience with the DAPPER DAY event at Walt Disney World in Spring 2019 was sensational! It was filled with high spirited people who loved Disney just as much as I do. The atmosphere at Walt Disney World is already magical on its own, but when you include people who are dressed to the nines and want to socialize with other Disney lovers, you are sure to have a spectacular time. It was so delightful to see everyone dressed up and celebrating together. We had the joy of meeting new people but because of our love of Disney, it felt as if we were among long lost friends.The DAPPER DAY organization sets a schedule for a social meal and which parks to visit during the Walt Disney World celebration. In spring of 2019, we met on Friday night for dinner at Disney Springs, visited Magic Kingdom on Saturday, and visited Epcot on Sunday. The DAPPER DAY Spring Event in 2020 has a different schedule and some new gathering opportunities.While DAPPER DAY is not in any way affiliated with the Walt Disney Corporation, they have scheduled events for 9 years now and Disney PhotoPass Photographers have caught on. Some of my favorite photos have been taken during the DAPPER DAY event. Being dressed up at the parks definitely adds extra magic to your park photos.Dressing up in dapper style does not necessarily mean that you must wear classic styles, but it does mean that you have step out of the box and indulge in your inner fashionista. Many people choose dresses that are sophisticated and dressed to impress.
