Why Didn’t I Go Back to Disneyland Sooner?

It had been 12 years since my last visit to Disneyland. Back then, I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel—still my favorite to this day. The moment I stepped foot onto the property again, one question immediately came to mind: Why didn’t I come back sooner?
Twelve years ago, I was 23 years old, running the Dumbo Double Dare during a RunDisney event with my dad. Now, at 35, I’ve had the joy of visiting Disneyland twice in 2025—once for a Wishes Family Travel event (which I just returned from) and again this coming November, when I’ll get to take my daughter for her very first visit. Just thinking about sharing this experience with her brings so much excitement.
As I prepared for my recent trip, I could feel the anticipation building. It had been so long, and I missed the charm and nostalgia that only Disneyland offers. I truly love how compact the resort is. It’s perfect for a long weekend getaway—you can immerse yourself in the magic without the pressure of seeing and doing everything. With just two parks, park hopping is effortless and fun!
Disneyland is often overlooked, especially by those who are drawn to the size and scale of Walt Disney World. But this is where it all began. Walt himself walked these streets, and you can feel his presence every time you visit—at least I do. The atmosphere here is different. It’s more relaxed, more intimate. While I love the energy of Walt Disney World, there’s something incredibly special about the laid-back charm of Disneyland.
With Disneyland’s 70th anniversary just around the corner, now is the perfect time to visit and celebrate where the magic started. There’s so much to look forward to in the coming year, and I can’t wait to experience it all—and to help others do the same. Let’s plan your unforgettable Disneyland vacation together!
