A Little Pixie Dust
Juli Russ2.6.20Has there ever been a souvenir that your child has begged and begged for? Since my daughter was little she has asked on every trip to the Magic Kingdom for a giant Mickey balloon. I always told her no, explaining they are expensive, hard to carry on rides, hard to get home and won’t last. I always thought we could find a better, more lasting souvenir. This past June I took my daughter to Walt Disney World for her graduation trip and wanted to get a special souvenir for the two of us. Guess what my daughter wanted! If you guessed a giant Mickey balloon you would be correct. As always, I said no for all the same old reasons. On our last night in Magic Kingdom, my daughter decided to spend money her dad had given her on a giant Mickey balloon! How could I say no, it was her money? She tied the balloon to her bed that night so she could look at it as she fell asleep and then see it as she woke up in the morning. The balloon came to breakfast with us then came along with us to our last few hours at Magic Kingdom. I had asked my daughter how she planned to get the balloon home on the plane, that being one of my biggest concerns. She had done some research and found that it could be deflated then re inflated at a local florist. She also discovered “Pixie Dusting” which is when you gift a little something to a stranger for no reason other than to spread cheer.During our breakfast she decided she would find someone to Pixie Dust the balloon to. I suggested to her that she find a family with a stroller, as the balloons can be tied to the stroller while the family enjoys rides. After a fun photo shoot with her special balloon we looked for a family to gift the balloon. We thought we found the perfect family with two little girls, “stalked” them to Pirates of the Caribbean but lost them in the crowd. As we were sitting outside the ride, hoping we would see this family again we both noticed a different family sitting across from us. Then we heard mom address her daughter, Morgan. Morgan is also my daughter’s name! My Morgan walked over to the family and asked little Morgan if she would like to have her balloon. The little girl’s face lit when her mom excitedly told her she could have the balloon. Little Morgan was dressed in purple with purple Mickey ears so the purple balloon was perfect for her. It was truly a meant to be moment. We walked away from Morgan and her new balloon and I have to admit, tears were streaming down my face. We have taken many trips to Disney with our family and I realized at that moment that the Disney magic was in my daughter. She has soaked it in over the last 17 years and now will carry throughout her life, just like I have.I would love to help you create magical Disney moments with your family.
