Castaway Cay

Dana Munoz3.5.20Winter is really settling in here in Charlotte, North Carolina! These cool temperatures have me reminiscing on warmer days, specifically- days at Castaway Cay! Castaway Cay is Disney’s Private Island in the Bahamas. Many Caribbean cruise itineraries on Disney Cruise Line stop at this island, some even stop twice! When I went on our Disney Cruise, I had a great time at all of our ports of call, but Castaway Cay was by far my favorite. Because the island is owned by Disney, only Disney ships can stop there. It is a huge island, and only having one ship there at a time really makes the destination feel less crowded, calm, and much more tranquil than other locations.f-26-14-13516052_A6dHzfyo_Serentity_BayThe Disney cruise that I went on was part of my honeymoon, therefore it was an adult only trip. During our time on Castaway Cay, we learned that there is so much for kids and families to do, as well as adults. Castaway Cay is home to an adult’s only section- Serenity Bay. While we knew we would want to explore the whole island, we also knew that we wanted to spend most of our time in Castaway Cay at Serenity Bay. When we got off of the ship, we were greeted by friendly cast members, as well as Stitch! We were easily able to find a map of the island, and quickly discovered that there was a tram that would take us to the bay. We thought this was big perk from Disney- although the bay is in walking distance, it was nice to have the tram car as a time saver. Serenity Bay was everything I hoped it would be- calm, tranquil, quiet, and relaxing. We were able to have drinks while lounging in chairs, float in the water, and ate lunch (provided by Disney Cruise Line) with other adults and couples.f-26-15-13516052_3qJGMp1b_castawaycayLater in the afternoon, we took the tram and ventured back to the main island for an excursion that we had booked- jet skiing! We had so much fun on this excursion. The cast members were friendly and helpful, and we were able to see beautiful views of the island. With the rest of our time, we lounged on the beach, did some shopping, and explored the rest of the island. We particularly liked the area of Pelican Plunge (waterslide), and Spring-A-Leek (water play area). We loved seeing that this was such a family friendly island and dreamed about bringing our children here one day. Now that we have a little one of our own, we are anxious to take him on his first Disney Cruise!
