Character Fun at Universal

Lisa Parsons5.2.19We are a Harry Potter house. When my husband and I surprised our kids with Gringott’s Money and told them we would be visiting Universal, there were tears of joy. My daughter was so excited to finally shop for candy at the real Honeydukes! What they did not know was how much fun it would be to meet some of the lesser known Universal characters.Do you miss the Disney days when you would walk along Main Street and just bump into Cinderella? Universal definitely has more of that random character interaction. Although many characters stay in their specific location, you still never know when the Blues Brothers or Marilyn Monroe may drive down the road!There is such a wide array of different characters, some old school and some new. At Marvel Super Hero Island in Islands of Adventure you may run into all kinds of Marvel Characters, sometimes they even close off the street for them to ride by! Spider-Man has a set location, so you will always be able to wait for him.In Toon Lagoon you can meet up with some of your favorite Comic Strip Characters including Popeye & Olive. And some of our favorites were in Seuss Landing. We stumbled upon Thing 1 & Thing 2 and even The Grinch, which made for a great Christmas card picture!In Universal my kids were excited to wear their Scooby Doo shirts and find The Mystery Machine along with The Gang. Shaggy was so excited to see himself on my son’s shirt that he pulled him ahead in the short line! They all spent a lot of time with us, Daphne even tried to mimic the same pose she had on my daughter’s shirt. It was really refreshing to see them spend quality time, we didn’t feel rushed and it truly felt like we just met up with them walking down the street.Also, in Universal you will find Shrek and Donkey in their set location near the 4D Movie. The Transformers also have an exciting entry just behind their ride, you will find set times for them to appear. I also found “Doc” from Back to the Future and “Hashtag”, Jimmy Fallon’s Panda!We would have loved to meet Harry, Ron & Hermione, but for now we were content talking to the Knight Bus Driver and the Conductor of the Hogwart’s Express.
