Disney at the Ocean - an Overview of Vero Beach
Agent Review of Disney Vero Beach Resort
September 17, 2015By: Leslie DinunzioDid you know Disney has a second Florida resort? There is a hidden gem located on the eastern shore of Florida called Disneyʼs Vero Beach Resort. There are no rides, no 180 day dining reservations, no Fast Pass plus to worry about, just a stunning oceanfront resort with lots of relaxation.Yes, I did say oceanfront. Itʼs pretty amazing. Vero Beach has a stunning pool with lighthouse water slide and pirate ship themed kids splash area. Speaking of the waterslide, itʼs an amazing photo opportunity. You walk up to the top of the “light house” and take a full 360o walk around the perimeter to get to the slide; there is an unobstructed view of the ocean. To get to the water, there is a gate on the edge of the pool area that leads you directly to the resortʼs strip of Atlantic coast.Late spring and summer is a magical time at the resort - itʼs sea turtle season! There are organized gatherings to the beach to watch the babies make their way to the shore. You will see sea turtles are a theme throughout the resort. On property, there is lots to do in addition to swimming! You can enjoy daily pool games, a nine-hole mini golf course ($2 a person!), campfires most nights (songs and sʼmores with the ocean in the background, canʼt be beat) and fun activities. My familyʼs personal favorite is paper airplane folding. It doesnʼt hurt that staff allow children to go to the top floor of the lobby and throw their planes to the ground level check-in desk (they rarely made their target, no worries). Additionally, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort offers a full spa. You can enjoy a pedicure or massage while watching the ocean and they also offer a child/tween pedicure which includes ice cream!Disneyʼs Vero Beach resort also offers some dining options on property. A quick serve style restaurant is located at the pool for a burger or sandwich. There is a family friendly pub called The Green Cabin Room that offers appetizers, light snacks and pizzas for pick up. Shutterʼs is a sit down restaurant that also offers a Sunday brunch and Saturday morning character meal with Goofy! Finally, Sonyaʼs is a signature restaurant thatʼs open only for dinner. You will need a vehicle to get to this resort, as itʼs located about two hours east of Walt Disney World. The Indian River Shores area (which encompasses Vero Beach) is a fun area to explore. Make sure to stop at a farm stand for grapefruit, and most grocery store fruit is grown in this area!If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation in Florida with a hint of Disney Magic, Disneyʼs Vero Beach resort may be the destination for you!
