Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

Epcot Flower & Garden

September 24, 2015By Guest Blogger - Jule DragstrumAs you begin to think about your 2016 visits to Walt Disney World, I wanted to recommend a special time that my family enjoys.  When we decided to go back to the Walt Disney World Resort in 2012, the only question left to answer was to when we would go? We decided to go during Easter Break.  This was our first encounter with the annual EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.  NoneJD_April_Showers1During the spring each year, EPCOT comes alive with fresh flowers and character topiaries along with other “special events” ranging from weekend concerts to tours and displays throughout the park. That first time the family was caught off guard as to what to expect. EPCOT was not one of the parts of previous trip’s memories that came popping back into our heads. However, it has become one of my  child's favorite parks and my husband likes it because it gives him many more beautiful photo opportunities.   NoneJD_April_Showers2The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is held annually from March to May.   Each weekend has different activities planned, including musical performances and guest experts on different gardening tips. The 2015 festival saw new topiaries this year including Anna and Elsa of that little heard of movie called Frozen, and Chip and Dale will make their Flower & Garden Festival debuts.NoneJD_April_Showers5  Another benefit of going during the Flower & Garden festival’s time frame is the weather. Central Florida can get pretty hot during the summer months and it does tend to rain -then again as my family always says, a rainy day at Disney is better than a dry day anywhere else. March to May in Central Florida is considered some of the best weather times to visit. It can get warm but usually not hot and as for the rain, April is one of the driest months of the year in the Lake Buena Vista area.
