Disney Cruise Line for Couples

Dana Munoz6/4/19My husband and I like to travel with Disney whenever possible, and for part of our honeymoon, we decided to take our first Disney Cruise together. Being an avid Disney traveler, I know the experience and standard of service Disney provides. It was my first time ever on the open seas, and I was honestly a little nervous, but I knew that cruising with Disney I would be in good hands.f-26-14-12921903_RSwMf6ze_DCL_MickeyI honestly was also a bit nervous about being adults in our mid 20’s, that we may not enjoy our Disney Cruise. I knew we would enjoy all of the Disney aspects that we love about the parks, but would we love this cruise for our honeymoon? Would it be romantic? Would it give us that feeling of escape we were yearning for? Would we be able to relax? We knew to expect kids, and lots of them, as that’s what Disney caters too. However, after careful research, we decided that a Disney cruise would meet our couple’s getaway needs.I was pleasantly surprised at how the Disney Cruise checked all of our boxes of things we were looking for in an adult getaway. The ship that we sailed on, The Disney Dream, boasted an amazing adult only area. We loved spending time at the quiet cove pool and being able to swim up to the bar and get yummy cocktails. We also loved the hot tubs in the adult only area, and how they overlooked the ocean. Much of our time on the boat was spent in this area, relaxing and soaking up the tranquility. Disney Cruise Line staff did a wonderful job of having the quiet cove live up to its name. Making sure at all times, that it was truly adults only, quiet, and tranquil. Our meals on the boat also added to the honeymoon ambiance that we were seeking. Disney Cruise Line has a rotational dining system where you are served by the same wait staff and sit with the same people each night. The other two couples we sat with at our nightly meal were also on a couple’s trip or honeymoon. It was awesome to share this experience with them. The wait staff was incredible. They lit candles, brought special desserts, and played fun trivia games with us. It was great to get a chance to know other couples and make some friends! We took advantage of some other adult only experiences on the Disney Dream, specifically spending time in two adult only lounges, Skyline and Evolution. We would head here after dinner for some drinks, music, fun, and memories. One night at Evolution they were hosting a couple’s trivia game; similar to the Newlywed Game! My husband was so excited to play, and we qualified as the newest married couple. Although we did not win, we made it to the final round, met some awesome cast members, received great prizes, and have that memory that will last a lifetime. Our stateroom also provided the vibe we were in search of. We chose a room with a verandah and this helped make our cruise incredible. It was so nice to enjoy a glass of wine together on the verandah late at night, or a cup of coffee in the mornings before going into port. Our “Mousekeeping” staff also knew we were on our honeymoon, and really spoiled us! We had rose petals laid across our bed, plus candy, champagne, and many other treats appeared in our stateroom throughout our four-night stay.f-26-15-12921903_q6HQse2o_AtlantisOn the islands, it truly was a honeymoon escape. In Nassau, we took a Port Adventure to Atlantis, which was incredible and romantic. We spent time on the tranquil beaches, had fun on the waterslides, went through the aquarium, and so much more. On Castaway Cay, we spent the entire day in the adults only section, Serenity Bay, and relaxed by the water, had delicious cocktails, and ate a wonderful lunch.f-26-19-12921903_aE93mXau_Serentity_BayOur favorite thing about our Disney Cruise as a couple was that it was another trip that allowed us to embrace our inner-child, while also giving us many moments for relaxation and romance. It was the perfect balance for us, and exactly what we were in search of in a couple’s get away. I believe that Disney Cruise Line has something to offer everyone and should not be overlooked even if you are traveling without children. No matter your age, Disney will make your trip magical.
