Disney World in the Fall

22 September | Anna Trosper

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year to go to Walt Disney World! The crowds are (usually) low, Magic Kingdom is decorated with gorgeous Halloween displays, and Epcot’s Food & Wine festival in full swing. Don’t get me wrong, Disney parks are always busy, but if you go when school is in session it will be much less crowded than it would be otherwise. That makes for shorter lines, which means you will be able to pack more into your day! Or - just enjoy the parks without all the people.

If you go in September, you'll get to enjoy Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. It runs the entire month and it is a FREE event (with paid admission into the park) where you can purchase sample size food and beverages from special kiosks across the world!

Along with food & wine, there are also free concerts nightly during the Eat to the Beat! This year’s lineup includes:

  • Sept. 2-3 – Southern Avenue
  • Sept. 4-5 – Kris Allen & David Cook
  • Sept. 9-10 – Hoobastank (NEW)
  • Sept. 11-12 – Jimmie Allen

  • Sept. 16-17 – Los Amigos Invisibles (NEW)
  • Sept. 18-19 – American Authors
  • Sept. 23-24 – BBMAK
  • Sept. 25-26 – Postmodern Jukebox
  • Sept. 30-Oct. 1 – Stokley (NEW)

  • Oct. 2-3 – Sheila E.
  • Oct. 7-8 – Mark Wills
  • Oct. 9-10 – 38 Special
  • Oct. 14-15 – Robert Randolph Band (NEW)
  • Oct. 16-17 – Newsboys (NEW)

  • Oct. 21-22 – Ray Parker Jr. (NEW)
  • Oct. 23-24 – Billy Ocean
  • Oct. 28-31 – Hanson
  • Nov. 4-7 – Boyz II Men
  • Nov. 11-12 – Kenny G

  • Nov. 13-14 – Sugar Ray

Also, this time of year is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on select nights. This is a special ticketed event that allows guest to trick or treat, meet hard to find Disney characters, and see the one-of-a-kind "Boo to You" parade followed by some Halloween inspired fireworks! It runs from late August to end of Oct. If you plan on going to this you need to get your tickets in advance – This party is known to sell out!

Remember when I said that I loved going during this time of year? Well, the weather has something to do with that, too! The average temperature in Orlando during the month of September is 90º , but it only goes down from there. The humidity is also lightening up at this time of year.

Just keep in mind that September marks the peak of hurricane season in Florida so you need to plan on more rainy days on your trip! While it could rain all day, it usually will rain only part of the day. We just put on our rain ponchos and keep on going!

If you're anything like me, when you're at Disney you like to travel around and see Disney Springs and a few of the resorts. All of these are decorated for fall, BUT my must do sight to see is over at the Disney Camp grounds. All the campers decorate their camp sites and then also have a golf cart parade - They decorate the golf carts for Halloween and have a parade and contest to see who has to the best one. It is a must see!

This time of year, Disney sometimes comes out with great promotions for packages staying on property. I do love to save money on a Disney trip when I can. So, if you are thinking about a trip to Walt Disney World, I would be very happy to help you plan and find the right time for year for you.
